i actually think i told someone this last week i thought the border took away from it and hence gave a lower mark that i may have done. Especially in some black and whites, where the border is the main contrast of the image, thats sad.
Borders to me are something that you do if it's a genius shot, and is going to be displayed on the net, this sort of competition although it allows them would be better off without them as it does alter the image so you can either say ok, do them and we live with it, no biggee, or no lets just view pure images.

I think it just depends on what your goal at DPC is. I mean, it's a contest and only for fun and learning. So if you just want to get together with others and show some of your art do whatever you feel. But if you're out to win every week then you might have to cater your work to utilize what you know to work week in and week out around here. Me I try to do both..:P

I've received comments on some of my challenge submitions suggesting that a border may have helped the image. IMO a good border can slightly improve an image, a bad one can ruin a good image. I personally try not to let borders, good or bad, affect my opinion of an image. I am starting to wonder if adding a border is worth doing in an attempt to please the voters. Whats your opinion?
