Would love to hear what we missed out on. It also turns out that Steve ended up taking a few sick days this week so as much as we missed getting to come, glad we didn't poison everyone.

Tell us about your wonderful weekend. Look forward to next year and maybe we can make it an annual event.

I would like to say Marge and I really enjoyed playing hostess and host. We really had a great weekend and hope everyone had a good time.

I would post some pics and describe the weekend but I might give someone's entry away!

Definitely have to do it again and not necessarily for Mardi Gras.

It is with a disappointed and heavy heart that I need to let you guys know that we have decided not to come this weekend.

A close friend and her family have been going through some really tough times because of a accident and then death of one of my friend's brother. Because of needing to support her and the family over the past 2 weeks, Steve and I are just spent and haven't had the energy or the time to get prepared for this trip.

He has also had some very long commutes for work and can't face, after all the other stuff, driving home from Dallas, packing up, loading up and then driving 3 hours. He will soon have vacation time again and this will change our weekend plans enormously. He ended up having to take a personal day for the funeral and such we got home too late and too tired to get things put together tonight.

Hopefully we will be in a position in the next few months to try this trip again but Mardi Gras will have to wait till next year.

Y'all have fun without us. WE will be thinking of you.

Ellen and Steve

Sorry to hear that. We'll plan on it for next year. Take care!

If you like wildlife bring your long lens. Here are a few shots from the last couple of days.

eta: If you have a Canon body you can always use my 100-400 or 70-200 if I'm not using it.
eta2: Not anywhere near what vawendy does but I WILL get better. I didn't take much time with these, just shoot.

I would like to try out the 100 - 400

Not a problem Adam.

I heard Aaron Applebaum gives pretty good tours if anyone is interested, here is his link.//www.mystiquetourscaddo.com/

Also Kat, there is a lot of rental cabins and B&B's on Caddo Lake. Things maybe prett booked up though with the Mardi Gras (Shreveport and Jefferson TX) celebrations.

So I went down to the pier and did a little fishing after work yesterday. As I was about halfway down an alligator left the bank and went back in the water. I didn't even see him because of the grass. While fishing I decided to take out my phone and snap a couple of pictures.

A panoramic view from the dock.

Looking west at sunset.

Not at all! I was just to lazy to go look for it. And if I'm not mistaken they were all PBs!

Here is the menu for the weekend. The BBQ stuff will be lunch on Sunday, otherwise it will be what Marge makes, when she makes it. Snacks will be throughout the weekend.
