Century Link is connecting ok again. I was not able to access DPC from my computer for about 5 or 6 days. The connection went out here the same day that the Nasdaq glitch happened.

It was not a big deal for me, as I haven't been on DPC much in the last few months.
In any case, I'm happy that things are getting back to normal, and hope that the problem was sorted out well enough that it does not happen again. There were a bunch of people getting pretty excited.
As long as I can eat and sleep, and no body parts fall off, I don't get too worried about things like this that happen.

Get well soon Ray.

What a bizarre ordeal. I hope the others also chime in and let us know that they're now able to access the site.

As of a couple of hours ago, all issues should be resolved. Please drop an e-mail to the previously mentioned ticket with your IP address if you are still unable to access the site entirely.

I am appreciative of the steps Cory took and of David's handling in the matter. I sincerely apologize for not revisiting this thread after my initial replies -- I had foolishly assumed that everyone's issues were resolved. =[ I will touch base with David and see if there isn't anything more than can be done on our end. It sounds like at least Janine is still having trouble... anyone else?

Hey, just glad you're cool with it! ;)

Janine along with Waddy/ MelonMusketeer and brucedgates are, to the best of my knowledge, all still unable to access DPC.

Janine is with Brighthouse, which is currently in progress for a resolution, and Waddy is, IIRC, on CenturyLink. No idea who the ISP is for Bruce.

ETA: Langdon - thanks for the kind gesture! I truly appreciate it.

In any case, I'm pleased that you got the VPN back online. If you need anything Janine, let me know.

But more to the thread topic: I went back to school today after the summer vacation and I can't get dpc to come up on the computer. Disaster! However, I'll see if it works at my other two schools tomorrow and morrowday.

It would be helpful if you would provide the support at sargasso people with your IP at school.

Wow, that's horrible Ray. I hope you have a proper recovery, and as expedient as nature science will allow it to be.

Hey, everyone. Just got a PM from Ray, who told me I could share his ordeal with you, since it's too hard to type with one hand. Here it is, in his own words:

"I visited Germany in the later part of July and on the last two days my right foot started to swell, something I attributed to having walked a great deal more than normal. On my second day back, I started shivering at work, assumed I had gotten a flu bug and went home to bed. I took flu medicine for three days, did not improve and my foot started to turn blue and I had excruciating [pain] extending from my big toe to the knee. Alarmed I went to the ER at my local hospital where I was told I had an infection, prescribed pills and recommended I follow up with my own doctor.

After four days with no improvements I met with my doctor who immediately took me off the medications, sent me to the hospital for IV antibiotics and arranged for home care. Since then, a nurse visits me every day, hooks me up to an IV pump, cleans my foot and changes the dressing. The swelling and pain are gone for the most part, as is most of the skin on my big toe.

I had an appointment with my doctor today to determine if we can stop the IV and home care. He wants me to come back next Wednesday for another look see if IV treatment is still needed.

The doctor thinks I might have been bitten by a spider and will be sending me to the Center for Infectious diseases for a follow-up. "

hold a solitary candle vigil from home for you... with wine of course.

Just a quick note: Don't send your IP address if you are with Brighthouse, or have already reported issues. No need to double up the support tickets. :)

OOPS!!!! I read your note that they needed our IP's ....I'm going to blame small print on my phone!!!! That's my story and I'm sticking with it!!!

No worries. I'm sure an extra ping won't hurt them a bit. :)

Hell, I think he should get a whole year!

Now Ray, what the heck???
08/26/2013 07:26:20 PM · #24
Cory, it's one thing to have to deal with niggling things like style, and pixel size, but another thing altogether when a portion of the paying membership cannot get onto the site. Langdon may not be appreciative, but he should by no means be annoyed at you resolving this issue when he clearly doesn't have the time.

ETA that this issue (fortunately) bypassed me, so I did not have a vested interest in having you resolve the matter.
