When I read the title of this thread I thought you were talking about the military plane/helicopter

Maybe it's a nesting kind of thing, where they are bringing extra groceries home for the kids. Now I'm waiting for my chance to get a similar shot.

I've never seen an osprey with 2 fish before, but wondering if the trend is heading for Canada :-) I've heard eyewitness accounts from a local bird rescue about a ferruginous hawk swooping in and snatching 2 chipmunks at the same time. This happened within 6 ft of the porch where the staffers were having their lunch break!

Wow! What a hoot! I'm like Maria, I've done so many osprey photos, but I've never seen it before. Maybe it's an up and coming osprey fad. :)

(your second fish looks as surprised as we are. :)

Thanks -- not that great of a photo... but fun catch! I was just so surprised. He was so far away, I didn't bother even looking at the photo. Don't know why I did tonight.

They were catching some serious fish out there that day:

It was during the shad run... (which wikipedia says are river herrings)

somewhat related, the UMN Arboretum now has a camera set up to watch their nesting osprey: Osprey Cam
I haven't watched it at all yet, but it sounds like it should be good.

Have you ever see an osprey with two fish???

Check it out!! This guy was so far away when I shot him, I had no idea -- I just blew it up out of curiosity, and saw it when it was 1-1.

funky!

(And I haven't even had anything to drink tonight... But maybe this means it's time...)

Edited to add: (thanks for fixing the thread title, SC!)
