I wonder if they'll make an adaptor for the Sony Mirrorless line? And how big a drone would I need to fly it around? These are important questions...

I'm guessing that pretty much any lodging along the path of totality is going to be impossible to book... so I'm not trying. I'm planning on sleeping in my car the night before.

I'm a little southeast of you in Castle Rock, CO. I've had this eclipse mentally bookmarked since 1979 when I was in Washington State and it was too cloudy to see!
Was thinking of going to Casper until I found out the Astronomical League is having their annual convention there to coincide with the eclipse, everything has been sold out for nearly a year...I think my best shot is going to some little speck of a town in eastern WY or western NE and hoping for the best.

Planning a road trip west for the 2017 eclipse. Not as yet sure what the destination will be but could be as far west as Oregon.

On Sunday, February 26th, the moon will pass in front of the sun, transforming rays of sunlight across parts of South America, southern Africa and Antarctica into fat crescents and thin rings of light.

Today is the 50th anniversary of the first photos taken by Lunar Orbiter 1 -- which five days later took the first "earthrise" photo ...

Scientists wanted Lunar Orbiter to take its pictures on film, which provided sharper images than TV cameras. But there was no way to get the film back to Earth. So engineers devised an ingenious system. The camera took a couple of hundred pictures on 70-millimeter film. When the film reached the end of its roll, it was developed inside an on-board laboratory. It was then scanned, and the images were transmitted to Earth.

Stacked with the 3 shots I had. It is a tad sharper but I found much richer colors! Thanks for the suggestion GeneralE.
