I wouldn't invest in any company connected to the natural gas industry:

"Wanted: someone, anyone, who can spot bogus revenues. Clearly, there is a shortage of such people after Poseidon Concepts Corp. reported through a special committee on Thursday that, oops, the company’s revenues in the first, second and third quarters of 2012 were misstated – by a lot.

Poseidon, which makes storage tanks used for natural gas fracking, saw its share price crater on the news. It was down 72 per cent in early afternoon trading, to 25 cents in Toronto."

Speaking of suicide, I wish this thread would take that initiative. The stock took another, sudden plunge to below thirty cents. I bought just under $16. What a joke! The paper is calling them the worst stock since Sino Forest.

Don't worry, I haven't jumped out of the window yet, and if I do, I'm on the ground floor. I haven't sold the stock either, and it's at something like $1 now.

Ground floor?

Jump slippy, jump!

He was doing some sort of advertising campaign when he first signed up, wasn't he?

I'm thinking of selling all of my regular stocks and putting everything into my low MER funds and ETFs. >:-(

While I still think it's possible for a regular person to be a successful "Beating the Street" type stock picker, I sold the last of my individual stocks about 10 years ago and switched entirely to cheap index funds. I couldn't tell you if I'm making more or less money, but the index funds are doing well enough, and I am able spend my time on photography instead of stock research.

That's how I do my "investing" too, after I read a book titled "A Random Walk Down Wall Street". I also have some individual stocks, just to prove to myself that I really do suck at The Stock Market. :-)

I had made some money day-trading / rolling over a few stocks in 2000, then made the mistake of going all-in on one that had been very good to me. Over Easter weekend, it went from $17 to $3. When I saw it that Monday morning, it took me awhile to believe it. It was like having the wind knocked out of me. That was the end of my dabbling in stocks. I've had all my money in Pokemon cards ever since. (not really)
