Just hit 115 votes in the last 10 minutes.

Remember that some who view, both during the voting period and post challenge, do so twice. I always look at all entries twice, usually three times or more during voting. And I usually look at the top ten at least twice, too. So I've never been surprised by the roughly 2:1 viewing:voting ratio - though I am sure there are those who go through once, vote, and never look back.

I am one who votes on every entry I haven't seen in every challenge I enter. I understand (or try to) the viewpoint of those who just as regularly and deliberately do not do so, but I actually don't even think about my own entry while I'm voting.

crowis Mike I understand all of that, I'm playing Devil's advocate here. Imagine if all of those that viewed the Top Ten (and naturally the Top Three) post roll over voted...Imagine if all of the 201 that viewed my image not just the 119 that voted also clicked a number from 1-10 in their screen...sure some might be "registered" and not "members" who can't vote in FS.

Anyway I went from 1 comment to 8 in the past day...and my score has stabilised more or less where I expected/hoped.

I too am at 115 votes now... which I'm happy about. Also happy about the ever so slight increase in score too... better than the alternative.

Venser, if you still need some more votes, you can have all mine below a score of 5.

I'm still not above 100.
Don't understand the complaints about low votes, at least someone thought something about your photo.

Drop of 0.08 since this morning, not sure if I'll be able to hold onto the 6.

It's often 3-4 times the amount of voters.

The amount of views that an image gets begins a re-tally after the challenge closes, and of course the top three are going to get a jillion hits as they are displayed on the front page of the site. My sole top 10 entry cruised past all of my images (even ones that were years old), as many of the fans of the site like to view the top ten after a challenge. Now, during a challenge many get views and no votes. . .I think this is caused by a combo of people who want to look and not vote, the phenomena of some looking at images and only voting on some, and others who are just viewing what is out there. Now, the number of entrants and voting in challenges has dipped and there have been a thousand fights as to why that has occurred, but as I said earlier. . .if we are still getting a hundred votes on a challenge I think the winners can still consider themselves well represented by the sites opinion.

I was impressed by the level of images in this FS. Some crackin' good landscapes and other genres were represented.

No complaints regarding score on my end--holding up nicely. :)

Some use the excuse of not voting as they may be biased. We aren't talking about corruption or nepotism here! It's a virtual ribbon for goodness sakes and you know guess there's some collusion/bias/trolls here anyway. Your vote could easily negate the trolls!

Anyway I just hit 100 votes with 9 hours to go.

Harvey, I refuse to vote in any challenge I participate in. I feel (for me only) bias would be unavoidable in that situation. I agree that the ribbons are virtual, but a lot of members of DPC highly value their accolades and scores. That being said, I did not manage to get a shot in this month and have made sure to vote in the challenge. Also, a pool of a hundred people should fairly be able to represent enough varied taste/experience to be pretty accurate I would imagine. . .mayhaps I am wrong.

At this rate I won't hit 100 votes unless 10 more voters turn out. Really sad if you ask me.

Just vote 1 or 10 depending if you like the image or not in one second. No analysis, no further thought, just fire away.

The last 200 challenges.

The blue values are free studies, the worst across the board.
The solid line of blue at the bottom is because Excel 2010 is acting up and my cygwin gnuplot didn't want to export this morning.

Didn't get a chance to submit to the FS this month, but I did go through all the images, and there were some fantastic shots there, not just in the physical sense, but in the emotive arena as well. Regardless of what your scores were, the group who entered this month should give themselves a "well-played" badge.

i took a look at the 5 previous months and the vote totals for the first page entries range between 125 to 108. looks like the amount of votes have been trending down recently.

I'm surprised, too. I actually have more votes on Windows than FS and there's one more day of voting left there.
I'm at 97 votes on FS.

Occurs once every four years...

The research proves you correct, as the FS challenge underway four years ago only averaged 132 votes per entry.
Previous Election Day was on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

my score sucks...

but, I got a FAVORITE!
what?
was that an accident?
that's the FIRST time ever I've gotten a favorite during a challenge.
that DEFINITELY makes up for the low score. it resonated with SOMEONE.

lol, I Always find Saturday voters the harshest, ever since I've been here!

FS was on 6.02 yesterday, now 5.88, 1 extra comment, 1 fave, but score dropped ;(

Ever think that on the weekends the voters have more time to truly analyze the merits of an image and have the opportunity to re-visit the image on several occasions.

Most people I would think are a lot more generous when voting on impulse as opposed to those instances where critical analysis falls into play.

I could be very wrong, but I do believe that my this theory might have some merit.

Ray

Well that must mean I really stink ;)

The votes are going to Obama and Romney rather than DPC

Well, now that's over, perhaps we'll see some action here...
