That is exactly how I checked the shutter count. Seemed off. It is the same in Picasa and a program I downloaded.

Contacts are clean. Message displays with all of my lenses attached, or no lens at all. Booooooo.

I have gotten this message few times before, but its usually a bad lens contact or something like that. Try cleaning your contacts and power it on again.

As for shutter count, how did you check that?
One easy way to see it is upload your latest unedited picture to flickr and click on Actions > View Exif info - it has a very detailed exif information, including the total shutter count.

My d80 is displaying an ERR message. Luckily I'm about one month out from the end of my 5 year warranty. I was curious about the total number of shutter releases for my camera, so I looked it up in a recent picture. It has me only at ~2400 clicks. That is impossible. There is no way that in the five years I've owned this camera that I've shot only that amount. So is this part of my problem? Anyone else have something similar happen?
Thanks!
