Thank you so much for this link!
I started practicing street photography following these books, and it is so much fun! (+ I like the results)

Wow Jason- you have a great talent for capturing the mood of the street. My favs are the two girls jumping rope and the woman in the kitchen with the cooking pot. Excellent work, thanks for sharing!

Damn, Jason, I saw all the latest additions. Really good. You definitely belong in the streets.

I love that you let people smile!

Thanks guys. I added captions to the last set. Some of them don't make much sense without. The field picture, for example, was to demonstrate the area of land where 350 families had lived.

A wonderful set of pictures, you need no advice from anybody, it was all already there.

I really like #9. The light coming in the window bursts into a glorious glow inside the pot of garlic and onions then streams across her apron tying her almost symbolically to the pot.

Jason, Amazing shots! I think you were a street photographer all along. You just needed a little inspiration that in turn will inspire us. Thanks.

Jason, i'll echo what everyone else has said. These are fascinating and moving documentary photographs. Excellent work. And it's great that you're out there doing what you're doing as well.

Jason, you certainly have covered a lot in those few photos. It really tells a story of resilience and devastation.

When I went on my trip to Honduras, I shot about 3000 images. The dozen or so jewels I got that I'll cherish for life were well worth sorting the wheat from the chaff.....

You're on the right track, Jason. When it comes to being in areas like this, I don't think it's a much a matter of being a "street photographer" as it is in having a purpose for your photography. If the purpose is to capture images that tell the story of what you're doing there and why you're doing it, in hopes of inspiring others to join the effort either physically or financially, then let that drive you to look for images that will do just that. Of course it's nice to capture spontaneous emotion and pivotal moments, but there's nothing wrong with engaging your subjects as they go about doing whatever it is that they're doing. If they feel you are there to help them, you'll have far fewer problems than if they feel you are there to simply exploit them.

A friend of mine who's a writer for the local daily has made a number of mission trips there over the past few years. Even though he's primarily there to do work, he does take some time to document what he sees and what they're doing. And sooner or later, he ends up with some pretty compelling articles for the paper (even though that's not his primary purpose). Here's a link to some of what he's shot.

Dude, these are really good. I think you should retire from ladybug photography and hit the streets.
