Your "Art of 2011" jury has finished its deliberations and chosen its award-winners and honorable mentions.

This looks like the jury didn't make their own decision, but waited until the popular vote was announced to make your decision based on that.

I agree. We didn't get comments from most of the jury. Seems silly to wait if, indeed, the decisions were made before rollover.

Come on friends. Bear, as the voice of the jury, posted before rollover. If you can't trust him, or the jury, then the process is pointless. The idea that we would make decisions after the popular vote is ludicrous. Certainly if we posted at rollover, somebody would be upset that it stole the spotlight from the popular vote.

Hey Ben we could show them our thread to prove our decisions....but then again maybe not!

Some of the jury (including me) also questioned why the delay but after Bear explained it, it made total sense. We don't want to overshadow what the voters chose as their top entries. The popular vote winners definitely deserve their time in the sun.

A good call. Might have been better to let everyone know that was the plan ahead of time, but still a good call. Looking forward to seeing a juried blue on my entry and showing the masses how utterly wrong they got it. MooWahaha. :P

Ultimately Ken you didn't furnish me with enough of the green notes to spread around the jury! (oops - have I said too much?)

He gave you some, too?? Did you tell him that simply writing $100 on a green post-it note doesn't do it? Even if it is delivered by godzilla?

Tonight's rollover is not a problem. Quite often two challenges will roll over at the same time.

At least one of our jurors forgot, until reminded, that comments were to be reserved until OUR results were revealed. We probably didn't make it clear enough when we laid out the ground rules. Nothing much to be done about it now, and no real harm done.

We trust you, though by the sound of it at least one of the public top finishers is likely to be in the jury top finishers too. :+)

I compiled and prepared the entire awards post before results were announced, in a private thread that langdon can check, and maybe even the sc. Not a word will change.

Same here. I waited up for the results and just wanted to see them.. nothing to do with trust, because of course I do!!!
Sorry for sounding like I was sounding off.

Wow... I posted then went off to bed... not knowing I was stirring a hornet's nest.

I assumed there must be a reason, since I trust them... but simply wanted them to know how it looked, and to understand why.

Bask, Ribbon Winners, Bask!!

I love that you folks have been working hard while we've all been playing! LOL!

But... Friday?

This looks like the jury didn't make their own decision, but waited until the popular vote was announced to make your decision based on that.

Why not... immediately when the popular vote is announced?

I'm not being snotty (although I DO have a cold), I really want to understand the logic here.

We've always done it this way. It seems bad form to us to announce our results at the same time the official results go up. I don't recall anyone questioning our integrity in the past. You'll have to take our word for it, but do you really think this dozen people would join in a conspiracy to tailor our results after the fact? C'mon! No way!

As it happens, we had our decision virtually finalized on Monday, and had all the kinks ironed out early Tuesday. Assuming you'll take my word for that :-(

R.

As a first time Jury member, I was surprised to hear that our results (that we have been working on over the entire period and had completed well before time) would be released a day or so after the official end.

But I understand now that it is for the best. I know some will be waiting for the results - and they are interesting - but the winners of the public vote DO deserve their moment as Mr Bear said.
