Oh, PIFFLEBERRIES! I take it you didn't get that in writing, the "free repair" part?

This is excellent news. Let us know if it is truly fixed.

How utterly bizarre...

Well, at least it's free.

I knew you all would feel my pain...

It is actually a very large and well respected facility. I stood there and watched three people search the front and back for about 20 minutes before they finally "gave up" for the moment. It took everything I had to not jump behind the counter and help... I felt that if I helped I could find it... like it would call out to me... Daddy! Daddy! Hear I am!

I've decided to give them a week before I become the "Ugly American"... lol

The good news is that your camera bag is lighter.

They'll send it to you when they find it?!?!?!??!?

Absolutely unacceptable! I'd say they have one week to find it. ridiculous! How big is their facility?

Obviously they must have shipped it out to someone else.

Personally, they should be reducing the cost or fixing it for free for the mess up.

Wow - that's awful. I feel your pain. Glad that 150lb bag of rage didn't explode, though. You might need to save some for later.

Sometimes if you can convince somebody to actually get up from their desk and go look for something they will stand a good chance of finding it. Nowadays customer service with a phone and a terminal just doesn't measure up to feet and hands and eyeballs. Good luck.

The only time something like that happened to me, I dropped the camera to catch the wife. We were hiking even though she didn't feel well, and when she started to teeter I had just unhooked the camera strap from the backpack. Dropped the K1000, which hit the rocks, caught Miss P, who didn't. Ended up with a dead Takumar 28-80, but I suppose it was a good trade. The prospect of buying a new lens for the old 35mm camera was not as attractive as spending that plus a bit more to go digital.

And she still loves me. Life is good.

They don't let anything get in the way of delivering a poor customer service experience. To be honest I'm shocked that they've agreed to do what they have. Wait... did they put that in writing?

I blame your wife - a little less screaming and a bit more catching and you wouldn`t be in this situation. She owes you exactly ONE lens.

I agree, you may need to work with her on making diving catches for next time. Happy to hear they repaired it.....or at least said it was repaired.....maybe..... Could have a new lens coming if they can not find it!

I would give them no more than 2 weeks. Sorry about the lens. I would be furious too.

Maybe it rolled under the fridge in the break room? Did they look there? :-(

Story update... took my lens in to get it repaired last month at a service center here in Germany and was told it could be fixed for 200 euro. Finally got an e-mail last week telling me it was done and ready for me to come pick up. Took the hour drive today to pick it up and... they lost it. Seriously!?! How can you lose a small bazooka? So BITTER! They are going to continue to look for it and send it to me free of charge (no repair cost) if/when they find it.

My question is how long should I give them before I demand a new lens?

I'm so bitter right now... had to stop by my house on the way back to work to give my wife and girls a hug because I was a 150 pound ball of rage ready to explode!

POOP!

I really can't imagine how you must have felt at the time.. hell I can't even imagine affording that lens *sigh*

That's one reason why I have a Flipside Lowepro backpack, it opens on the inside, the part that rests on your back.

How painful, when it's one of your most expensive lens!!
