All,

I'm aware that I missed the focus slightly on this shot (probably should've just gone with a slightly smaller aperture), it wasn't obvious on my LCD at the time and I didn't notice it until after we had wrapped everything up and I pulled the images into LR...

BUT, can I get a few opinions on the lighting? This was my first ever attempt at using off camera flash, and I kinda jumped in with both feet trying to do it with 2 Speedlights. Please don't take it easy on me for my "first try," I appreciate honest feedback.

Lastly, the other thing that I was trying to do was convey a "story" with this image. Did I accomplish that or is it just another model against a black backdrop?

I appreciate everyone's responses. :-)

I think you are on the right track, but the lighting looks a bit harsh. Did you use any modifiers on your speedlights? Also, I'm lukewarm about her position. Her stance isn't combative or aggressive enough to look like she's about to do battle, although she does look like she's concentrating, so she could be a gymnast. But it's hard to tell. Also, she's facing away from the camera and doesn't really create an off-screen presence for us to fear or lust after or anything, so for me, the story needs some refining.
