I'm dissapointed that it wasn't a bunch of trained squirrels and birds from VAWendy. I'm sure shes got plenty to spare ;)

Ach... I'm still disappointed it wasn't Schrodinger's Cat ;-) Although I suppose this is infinitely more useful!
Oddly, I was just looking at some 18" laptops in a brick & mortar store the other day. Man, they are big! The upside is, the screen is very useable, and the keyboard feels like a full-size keyboard, including having a real numeric keypad. I like that there is room for a second HDD as well. I can really see having an SSD for OS/apps, and a traditional drive for data. One of these things can be a very capable desktop replacement.
Now, get yourself a good wireless mouse and keyboard, plug in a second display, and you're rockin'! I see that Wacom is now offering a wireless version of their Intuos 4 tablet too.

Yup. It's not intended to be seriously portable. I can move it around the house easily enough, though.

I can hardly believe it has been this long! Next time we are in town I'd like to make plans for some dinner and some sunset pics together. I'd love to meet Penny!

It's an awfully nice computer, and lovely to look at. Really hard to get used to a new keyboard, but that's par for the course. Terrific screen.

Except I was the one who posted saying it was a laptop...before he said that. :P Like myself...I knew Robert was a Windows guy, but I thought he was going for something different with this purchase. Hence my Macbook Pro guess. I knew I should have been more vague and just guessed laptop. If I HAD...I could have been sitting here right now with a hot cup of coffee surfing the net. Oh, wait...I am. :)

Oh gosh. I totally thought the computer open vs closed was some kind of clue!

I love that laptop... I just checked the specs out, lucky you! Enjoy!

It isn't B&H that did this, they just stuck the Asus packaging into a cardboard box with bubble wrap; all that stuff is like Asus's take on a monster Bento Box or something. Extraordinary

Heh, what's even funnier is that I almost posted earlier how much I dislike UPS because of the way they treat my packages.... Fed brings the boxes here in beautiful shape, clean and with crisp corners. UPS? Well, let's just say that I think Bear's box looks pretty good for arriving via UPS..

Yeah, that surprised me as well........

In which way were you surprised? That it was in such good condition, or that it was in such bad condition? Apparently B&H has shipped with UPS before, I'd put something like a laptop in 47 layers of packaging too if I knew UPS was handling it!....

Yeah, that surprised me as well. But, inside the box, was a box. And inside THAT box, was a box to end all boxes. And inside THAT box were more boxes. All designy stuff. I'll shoot 'em soon. Amazing packaging. And all that packaging insulated from outside box by huge bubble wraps. 10 lb puter, 24 lb shipping weight...

So yeh, it IS a beast :-) But a sleek, lovely, FAST beast with 1.28 Tb of drives, 8 gigs of RAM, and more.
