I agree entirely. If the true avg Variance in DPC score in a challenge is a typical low of about 3.5 and a typical high of 7.5, and then you consider a variance like that in the range given, it is basically stating that particpants are scoring a shot 20% less in range than the rest of the community that is voting. I also no longer vote in any challenge I enter, maybe I am an inferior person, but in some way a personal bias will come out in the contests I enter.

Mine took a very similar path ending at 5.9645 and two placed behind you. I guess for me it is good to know my image was not singled out. |
But, I think that is one of the issues that gets edged at around here. Was this just a random dip created by some last minute low votes, are the first night trolls deciding to play a game and come out late. . .or, are participants going in and either adjusting scores or purposefully low voting when they realize they might be in contention for a top spot or ribbon. . . Not that either can be proved, but when you see a universal dive like this, it makes me (and others) wonder. This is what leads to some of the famous DPC debates, such as: Should participants vote, should people be allowed to use recognizable models, do leagues interfere with scoring. . .etc. Most of the time these complaints are probably baseless, however, in cases like this (especially on a couple of occasions looking through the results where part vs. non part voting was almost a full point off) commentary might be justified.

I am almost on the point of shouting funny business. I have a photo that runs above six until the last four votes, where it gets an avg of 2.5 for the four final votes. . . This is a bit odd for DPC. If not get the torches worthy it is certainly hmmmmm worthy.

I understand what you (and several others in this thread too) experienced as that I been in the same boat of being excited of getting something new into my top 5 only for it to fall short in the last two/three days of voting. It leaves one frustrated and scratching your head.
Basically you can never predict which voters are out there....sure there are the core ones that vote in each and every challenge but I think the majority of voters are different with each challenge. I've been here 6 years and *still* can't figure out with any infalible accuracy what will do well and what won't.
There were some stunning images that I rated high in the Pastel II challenge that I am surprised to find them down lower than where I thought they would be. |

Must have been a "malaise" going on, so many lost significant score in the last day or two. Where mine was on pace to be a PB, at 6.35 and going up, it ended at 6.00, failed to make my top 5. The pic didn't change. The reaction of the voters changed.
Economic bad news? Political unrest? Any thoughts? |

| No new PB. The scrubber lowered my score slightly, but I still got a new second best. I'm so happy to have a new image on my top row. |

Not cool to see good scores drop in the last two days:-( Hopefully the scrubber will work in everyone's favor.
Went by and did my final pass (bumping up my score on some photos) and voted on a few more but getting a thunderstorm that is preventing me from leaving some more comments (lost one due to timing out) :=(
