Yup -- that's a cicada molt!

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing. Looks like a cicada molting (shedding its skin), not emerging from a chrysalis. I may be wrong, but I believe only butterflies emerge from a chrysalis.

Great shots!! I've always wanted to see a cicada at that life-stage...

I don't know how much you know about these fellows, but they're a fascinating creature!!!
