Yow... I got back from this GTG to face an insane amount of work (up past 1am every night). I wanted to post some photos before 2012, though. Unlike past RG trips, I shot almost exclusively long exposures in the 4-10 second range. Although I bracketed in RAW+JPEG to allow recovery of any shadow/highlight detail, these are all just quick edits from the JPEGs.

If you do the entire loop (which we did the first year) it was something like 7 miles. It was quite a hike!

A question though! - How long is total trail if covering all falls? just wondering if I can take my two kids (7 and 3) :)

I think top to bottom was 3 miles. We had cars parked at both ends so we didn't have to hike back up. That is also only one of the two trails you can take, so we only saw about 1/2 of the falls.

I wouldn't recommend taking the 3 year old, unless you are planning to carry them and are in shape to do so. There are many steep staircases and a few somewhat dangerous sections.

Dangerous he says... Holy molly... When I started at the top of the falls I was something like 56 years of age... today I am 65 and have white hair.

Does that tell you something.

Thanks Ray...I was pretty nervous about hitting one of the cars and ruining my day. You guys were great to help.

And for the group walking with me, here's one of the shots of Jessica, a passerby who Dave asked to model for us. (Dave and Shannon, if you have shots to give her, I have her email). I gave her this:

Don't tell Neil but there is no way in hell there was 4cm on my side...closer to maybe 1.5 to 2.0... but he is a really good driver.

It actually must BE a pretty high class establishment... as Dave and I were heading past there on our way out of the picnic, a couple actually landed their HELICOPTER outside. They were just stopping there to eat. I'm not making this up:

Damn good idea...next time I'll go to the trails end by helicopter so I don't have to squeeze out of the parking lot with only 1" of clearance. :)

Well, since you asked:

I had a great time seeing everyone and shooting the falls. However, I do feel like I was on a stairmaster for four hours!

I had a good time too. Here are a few of mine that I got to mess with.

I too am back home... just got in as a matter of fact.

Fantastic outing. My apologies to those who had to wait for me to dash down the mountainside, and many thanks to those kind souls to helped make the descent a lot easier. I had an absolutely fantastic time

Oh, and thanks Scooter97 for some great grub.
