I'd love to know how William Longley and Charles Martin got the underwater color photos using "highly explosive magnesium flash powder".

The flash powder would have to be contained in a transparent waterproof housing, right? No problem, but what happens to the huge amount of quickly expanding gas when the powder is ignited? I bet they blew up a few flash units before they worked the bugs out. :)
