When you're DQ'd unanimously (in both cases), it's time to face the likelihood that you're the one misinterpreting. ;-)

I said it was my opinion. I still think my interpretation is the correct one according to the way the rule is written.

Don't you love it when SC fight over interpretation..............now you understand why we are sometimes confused.. :)

Hey, glad this forum got started. I got a DQ, but was never told why when I inquired (maybe I'm stupid!). I suspect that the border was misconstrued as a "lens flare or motion". Anyway, it was doing real well, and I was hopeful, but I guess you all know only too well how that feels.

Maybe one of you (or perhaps one of the admins?) could offer your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated! :)

You were DQ'd for creating a new feature. The apparent halo around the moon was created by masking the rest of the image with a circular border. That's what you were told too, though not so specifically, since you received a general response for this category of error: "You may not use ANY editing tool to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn't already exist in your original capture."

Just put the number at the very end of the Image ID between the thumb tags. Edit your earlier post to see.

Dang! Maybe I'm just stupid, but how do you get the cute little thumbnail into the post?

And, oh yeah, my first entry was DQ'ed because after I cropped, the software left a 1 pixel wide black line down one side. In those days, borders were not allowed. Can't show it, because they simply deleted DQ'ed images back then. I've long forgotten what the image was, and I am several computers and hard drives down the road since then, so I can't show you either. But someone here had/has eagle eyes because I really had to look for that line after they told me.

I had virtually the same experience with the line at the top of this photo (I re-uploaded it to show):

Or until its proven that you can't believe (over and over) how some people will interpret (misinterpret, IMO) some of the rules ... :-(

Apparently is was considered possible to impale huge chunks of processed meat onto sticks and have these lovely young ladies wave them around in the park ...

Someone must've figured I rented a carbon-arc searchlight in my vain attempt to lure the Dark Knight to the West Coast ...

The real stupid person is the one who asked for validation.

I just downloaded Picasa 3 so I can tag my photos, but I'm wary of doing anything that is going to alter the original files. If I run the "find photos" feature in Picasa, it won't add any data to photos, will it?

Because I tried to thumbnail the wrong entry (a self-DQ). What good is stupidity if you can't show it off?

Bonus points for stupidity if your thumbnail doesn't work. ;-P
