I have heard they are pretty nice and a fellow at one of my favorite local camera stores said it's really beautiful right now because of the rain.

I would love to check it out sometime...

We might have to arrange a photo safari. Heard there was a neat butterfly pavillion in Charlotte as well.

Have ya'll heard of any other cool sites in the area? We moved here last August and with getting settled, I'm good to find my way home from Southpark (mall in NC) without getting hopelessly lost.

There is a really neat butterfly exhibit going on here all summer too at the Catawba Science Center... I have a few photos from there that have come out fairly well....

Southpark is near I85 isn't it? Thats not too far north of Gastonia if I remember correctly. If you live in that area, we can certainly do some shooting :)

Very nice b'fly pics! Nice lens too! (it's on my wish list).

Small world - my brother-in-law lives there!
I'm actually more south but certainly within driving distance of all the afore mentioned spots.

I'm in North Carolina and I am going to the NC Arboretum this coming Saturday in Asheville. I have not been to the Daniel Stowe one, but I did add their site to my favourites because I plan to visit it this summer or fall. I will most likely be adding some shots I take at the arboretum to my Fotola portfolio around the first of next week, I'll post another reply with the link if anyone is interested.

I would be very interested in some advice about where to shoot in this area, I have been searching online for weeks to find something of interest....

Cheers!

Folks say Asheville is a really fun and interesting place to visit so you shouldn't have any problems finding additional subjects to shoot. My hubby and I are going to the Highlands (NC) in July to photograph the falls and whatever other interesting stuff we find. I'll be using my 300D and he'll be using his Minolta X700 that he's had since high school (he used to shoot for the school paper and I'm trying to get him back into photography). I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

Have a good time at the arboretum!

I'm in the eastern end of NC. I shoot at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden on a monthly basis :).

If anyone heads out this direction, feel free to look me up.

Everyone is in NC, I'd have to drive aways to get to anywhere I guess its a good thing I am at the top of SC! The Botanicle Gardens is close to us here. //www.clemson.edu/scbg/ or the Riverbanks Zoo is really nice lots of upgrading in the past few years...//www.riverbanks.org/
Lots more places than these...I would love to go exploring heres some more attractions for tourism here.//www.discoversouthcarolina.com/whattodo/gardens.asp

I like Riverbanks Zoo.

If you are into really out of the way historic places, Little Cataloochee (not the Cataloochee ski area) outside of Waynesville, NC is a neat place to visit.

I was in Western Carolina in April, but due to illness, had to curtail the trip. I'm definitely looking to go back in the near future, as I have some work to do there, so I'll be watching the posts for the formation of an "official GTG".
