Can someone tell me how I can enter this challenge if you cant have a portfolio as a not-yet-registered member and all my pictures showing were used in a previous challenge? Just trying to figure that out unless I can't do it no matter what. haahha.

Hi Stephanie,

Doesn't have to be a photo you've posted in your profile portfolio. Any photo that you haven't posted in a challenge yet is game for this challenge. Dig into the photo folders , you must find something you haven't posted before. Perhaps some good outtakes from prior challenges?

Note that you also cannot TAKE a photo for this challenge. It must have been taken between 1/1/2010 and 5/4/2010. :)

I wonder if I've got time to sort through 20,000 images.. :)

no, any shot that has a time stamp of between Jan 1 and May 4th. That has NOT already been used in a challenge.

Oh boy - it's about time we have a challenge like this. And hopefully we'll do it again. Many of us have great pics for themes but have missed the deadline or a theme comes up that u just managed to shoot and can no longer go back and do again so it cannot be used.Yes there is the free study but great photos get lost - there are so many submissions.

Same here, esp as I don't upload images to my DPC portfolio all that often. Yayyy! :-)

YEAH! Great idea for a challenge! Congrats to whomever suggested it!

I would actually like to see one challenge per month that has a specific theme (sports, balloons, zen... whatever) but a bigger range of dates, maybe going back to the beginning of the year. It makes it less of a FS or "best of" which this seems to be. It gives us a chance to practice our editing and show off some shots that we were lucky enough to capture during the year.

Hidden Gem - 1000th Callenge just thought you guys would like to see this...

We did a 100% Comment Challenge for this...NOW that was daunting...but also very rewarding there were 1108 entries in that puppy

By the way, I have a question...

This is somewhat strange. Many of these pictures have been in our portfolio, maybe posted in a forum, maybe featured on our profile page. But the challenge says that we can enter it, as long as we haven't entered it before. So, should we delete these from our portfolios and re-add as a challenge entry and hope no one remembers the picture (and if they do that they would be honest enough not to vote on it... which I'm fine with because that's what I would do).

No need to delete (you would lose the faves and comments), just hide it in your portfolio then when the challenge is over you can unhide it again.

Or don't.

There is no requirement to hide them. I doubt people will hunt for them.

Why have you in mind, voting in a picture if you know who is it owner, is dishonest? There are a lot of photos in each challenge, where the owner is the subject in it, or his pet, or someone in his family. Then, are they inviting us to be dishonest? Yourself, you have 2 or 3 entries with one same girl! Curious "naivete" ...

ETA:
I forgot !! I'm a dishonest voter, trying to vote 100% in each challenge. And recognizing who the photographer is, make it more funny. I'm a sinner! ;-) lol

I personally know voters that recognize my neice in a picture and they do not vote on those. If I know the voter I feel there is at least a possiblity that my vote will be somewhat bias and I hope they would give me a really nice comment (and a fav of course) and say they didn't vote. I don't think it's "dishonest" (or naive) at all but I personally think that skipping one vote is the right thing to do if you think you recognize the photographer, and I know many voters that agree with me. CERTAINLY if I know the photographer I will not vote and I hope others will do the same in return (but don't forget the favs).

I think some will approach this one as Hidden Gem Crouching Challenge Outtake.

i really don't see the big deal woth this, unless your voting history blatantly shows "friend voting", if you recognoze the model or whatever and honestly think its a good shot whats the big deal? (yeah i know, the whole controversy we had a while back)
