While you all sit around and think about what you should do, you should look around and see who you are trying to impress. Yourself or DPC, umm in other words if you take a pic and you like it and maybe you make a print and someone else likes it...they may buy it. See I make a little cash on the side, but there are things I like and don't like and one thing is...you all talk about the same thing over and over again, no matter how long your away there is always talk about details. Get me! You all go on about the same thing year after year, but it should be about the photographic part, if you made a good image, that is how you score it. That is how DPC works good images +++ bad images --- I know you will all twist this up, but I am a str8 up person and this may be my last year here, because it is not fun any more. Good luck all. |

Just had a look at the entries and I am truly amazed at the talent out here. One thing for sure - kudos to all those who put it a wonderful work. I thought I have started to learn about images but after seeing these I suddenly found that I've got a long way to go - pheeeeew!!
(Taking a tactical break before voting so that i don't give 9-10 to most entries) |

I laughed all the way to the popcorn stand - highest average I've given by a mile. How can you not? Either there were funny images, or smart wordplay, or funny words, or smart processing! And a good time was had by all!!
You have rated 215 of 215 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.7860. |

Is there any reason that people are voting this challenge with an eye toward how much "Expert Editing" the photographer did? The rule set is the means to an end, not an end in itself. I hope people will remember to vote on entries on their own terms. Expert Editing suggests what the photographer can do, not what the photographer must do.

I don't think that's happening at at all, judging from my own shot's performance. I took advantage of the expert rules for the sake of convenience, but if it were advanced rules I would have just had to prop-shop a little longer. I could have done this shot under expert rules or even basic. Actually, if I had done more expert editing I would have probably messed it up big time.

Sounds like you're concerned about not getting enough merit for an entry that didn't use much "Expert Editing". ??? While that may be possible, it's also possible that some consider this part of the Expert Editing Ruleset when voting:
"You are encouraged to keep your entries photographic in nature, and voters are encouraged to rate entries accordingly."
If it doesn't look like a photo anymore (or photos used in the digital art creation) ... |

I don't want merit -- just honest votes and comments based on the finished product, without regard to how deeply I did or didn't exploit the expert rule set. |

I kind of agree with you. I mean, I have a decent score right now, and people haven't come down too hard on my lack of ridiculous Photoshop wizardry, but I've been working so hard for so long to Photoshop in a way that looks natural. One of the hardest things to do in Photoshop is to make things not look Photoshopped. And sometimes I think that with the open system (which I am a fan of, btw) there's pressure to pump out shiny, colorful, glittery conglomerates rather than just nice images. This is kind of how I felt when I realized I had to use Neat Image on anything with a human in it. Now, through many years of figuring out other skin smoothing techniques (of the much more tedious sort), I've broken myself of that, too. |

I must have laughed out loud at maybe 9 or 10 of the entries. They're hilarious! |
