I downloaded all the images but life intervened and I was unable to play at all.
Next time, I hope...

Meanwhile, all the edits were just tremendous. While I do wish all the images had steps attached, because of their remarkable originality, I decided to select only from those who included at least a general idea of their approach.

Thank you to everyone, and especially to these three:

1. Love whose simple silver glow transformed the bridge
2. Cryan for those magical colors that enhanced the structure
3. Art Roflmao for making the whole scene become vibrant and alive

First Place: to love I like the border and the wording on the top...not to mention the rich sepia tin look..

Second Place: to jomari for really like the rich blue color in this and the overall deep colors

Third Place: to Art Roflmao mostly for this process... made me laugh...

1st place pjotre7 for I really like the colours and combination of detail and stylization.

2nd place Kelli for I like this for the same reasons as above - it is similar in those respects.

3rd place redjulep for An amusing, yet elegant processing - and the mall in which this shop is situated is sometimes the victim of flood.

And an honourable(?) mention to Art Roflmao for this funny outtake Nothing like a bit of dark wit.

I just loved all the variations of interpretation of my image - thanks to all of you who worked on it!! I had a hard time choosing, but nonetheless, I did.

First Place: by vikas -- thrilling detail and depth. I feel this took the image up quite a few notches.

Second Place: by johst582 -- quite the opposite of the first place: beautifully dreamy and misty.

Third Place: by jomari -- an excellent idea to populate the beach. Love the fun colors!

HM - by love -- for taking this in a uber-creative direction with both the colors and the overlay.

This picking winners business is the part I don't like. Everyone has done a lot of work and gotten great results. In the end I picked my winner because his image will appeal so much to my granddaughters and the horses are their pets.(Though the dark one kicks and bites and the buckskin bucks.)

1st place to Trumpeteer4 for Magical!

2nd place to Kelli for A bit of magic here too.

3rd place to Art Roflmao for Excellent job, particularly of extending the environment.

Removing the crotch string was the first thing I did. Due to the darkness "down there" in my image, I guess you can't see it.

A differnt view of the great "crotch string" debate:
Leaving the crotch string intact when doing a cut-out and transfer to a replacement background made the composite a bit more convincing (and took extra effort) so I think I should get a few extra points for leaving it IN...

See, I was thinking along the lines of "pull string to remove" so I left it in. ROFL!

I started in kind of late last week, but did have fun messing about with the images at home. My biggest problem is that I'm used to processing 4 megapixel images with my E-10 (circa 2000) camera. Editing some of these PP images brought my PC (of about the same era) to a crawl. The other problem is that my ISP only provides dial-up (yes, in this day and age. If they could get broadband over barbed wire, I'd be in good shape.)

Anyway... Is it a problem if I were to submit images at the same resolution/size as DPC challenge entries? I may be able to spend less than a day uploading if that were the case.

I only upload the edits at dpc size. I think most of us do.

eta: It's only if you're putting in an image to be edited that you need to submit full size.

I can see from the entries in here that I have a LOT to learn. I know this is super late, but just putting in out to see if anyone has any comments on it. (Be gentle... I'm fragile)
