what and have no dummy spit......now that wouldn't be in the dpchallenge tradition.

Whoa there, Maarten van What, you can't come to the party and just not drink. There is some excellent champagne that Don begged off somebody - he's pretty good at that - heck, he's great at that. Sometimes we didn't even know we had it until he took it.

We're ALL pregnant, and now there is no safe place to deliver.

Don, I made you a purdy picher fer yer going away present...

I am entering it in the "Waiting" challenge with the justification that you are waiting to be jolted off of your bad voting pyramid by the "Dark Angel of Mainstream". If your suspension is lifted, please vote it a 10 and give it a posthumous gold medal.

I refuse to believe this is not an April Fool's joke. Just saying it isn't one doesn't mean it's not, right?

Ok
sorry
been out of touch with all the drama on this site (can't wait for the movie to come out)
but now I did some reading in the forms

you were warned about being caught with your Trousers down (or something like that)

Just to be clear, no one wanted/intended for Don to leave.

He not only gave me the only ribbon of any kind I have here (for a picture which got a DPC Brown), he started this thread -- before the ongoing ribbon threads -- to call attention to it. I think he adds a lot to the site by helping to point out the unobvious ...

I think everyone should relax and party for a good long while as things get sorted out ... nothing can happen in a hurry at DPC -- we're too spread out and have day jobs ... it's not like we can sit in a conference room and actually discuss things .... :-(

I cannot believe you're going to leave after giving so much to DPC's members and users. After all your posts about artistic photography and all your Posthumous ribbons given to many people who were flabbergasted that they received one from you. After changing many people's view on photography. After creating a movement here that mixes well with the current crop of photographers on this site. After getting me to think differently when taking photos. You SOB! You better not leave. ;) Take the suspension like a man and come back and continue as you were, that's what will make this evolving site the unique site that it currently is.

PS. I still have lots of learning to do so stay the hell here Don. :-)

Stay, please.

Narrow mined....hmmmm. I do believe there is place for everything. I entered the Fine Art Challenge and even got a honorable mention, but that was the right venue for the image. The idea of giving awards for non front page images is awesome. The side challenges are awesome too. I disagree with your statement about eye candy, it's art too and it makes this site what it is. There is always room for the artistic crowd or out of the box images, again everything has it's place. Don has brought value to the site no doubt. Why not have a venue for it.

Bear Music I guess if I wanted to go to country music concert to listen to country music, I wouldn't die my hair green and expect to hear punk rock. I'd just leave.

Ace - I think you have a very narrow vision of and for this site. IMO as a learning site, aside from the Challenges there probably hasn't been a more potent vehicle for education here outside of the posthumous Ribbon Awards and the side Challenge spurred on by people realizing there are other ways of thinking about photography besides the Ribbon quest. It has probably one of the healthier extensions from the sites mission statement that has encouraged many people to think outside of the box and provided a comfortable place for those who always did. It also helped the site from falling completely into a cold technical, eye candy bubble that it had been suffering from for a long time.

AMEN! There's actually nothing that chills me more than watching members of a majority imply, or outright state, that perhaps the minority would be better off moving on. In fact, it pisses me off.

What? NO CHOCOLATE? Can't be a party without chocolate. And by the gods, I have yet to find a decent (or even half decent) cappucino since returning to the US of A. So please. If you're gonna throw a freakin' party, there had better be chocolate and a damn good cappucino.

Except that DPC isn't a concert, and it isn't (and never has been) restricted to one style or point-of-view. Indeed, its primary VALUE is in how it exposes people to other peoples' ideas; take that away, and it's just another feel-good photo-posting site.

Don, I understand you are feeling miffed and victimised, but! Walking away from the site? That doesn't solve anything, just means we have to find a new ball. I back both you and Wendy, plus any others who have been flagged by a possibly faulty system. So, let's have this party, get drunk and all turn up for work on Tuesday.

Team Suck is a part of DPC lore now, your ribbons are well respected and most people love your comments on challenge entries. A moment of madness could undo all you have done here. Take an Easter break, think it over through a beer haze, then talk it through again with SC and Langdon. If you still want to leave and find this is the ideal excuse, I can't stop you. I sure as hell ain't gonna beg you to stay either, cos I don't even beg for sex or bank loans, although I do for new camera gear:))

Enjoy the party, I'll have a quick drink with you and get off home, thanks:)

I might be late (did not read through all posts) but isn't today April 1st? :)

Past experience with SC is a case of "we`re right, you`re wrong, we will stick by our initial judgement, deal with it".

Only on a few occasions has a judgement been overturned.

Maybe thats why?

Steve said it, and myself and I'm sure many others, will agree with him. Take the time, think it over. I have to say the comments you've provided on my pictures and my 'almost' ribbon from you have been some of my highlights since joining DPC.

We gather in the masses because we enjoy the venue.(country concert), I do enjoy rock and jazz, but I'm at a country concert.. The style of DPC has been stated many times "Eye Candy" with some very creative point of views. Yet still so called eye candy. Being exposed to other type of venues is great, we all grow that way. It appears a group of people want to make the minority the majority and that isn't why I'm here personally. Yet if there was a venue for Artistic, abstract type of images in a challenge I'd probably play. Again. if this wasn't my cup of tea I wouldn't impose my style, I'd move on.
