My experience with the voting around here is that a lot of people give grades like 1, 2 and 3's. I REALLY don't understand this.. If I look at a picture, and I don't like it, I wouldn't give it a 1 just because I don't like it... I think everyone who tries their best (mostly you can see this in the picture) deserves a 6 or so. The grading system goes till 10, so why not use this grades fairly..
I still post because I like to have a weekly kind of assignment.. If I wasn't looking for this assignment I would be long gone... I know my pics are not the best, but I try, and I enjoy it... I don't think that they deserve 1's.

I can't even believe this. Doesn't anyone here have an imagination?
Does every entrance have to have a door? That's the only explanation there could possibly be for scoring this low.
I have learned to pretty much not care about my scores but this is ridiculous. |

I might be in the same situation. I thought my entry for last weeks challenge was quite mediocre and instead it did fairly well. This one I thought was pretty darn good and it looks like it's going to struggle. My mind reading skills are on the fritz perhaps.

Oh, i wouldn't be too surprised Penny. It's been shown time and time again that a large majority of voters on DPC are pretty unsophisticated when it comes to understanding and decoding visual language. What is taught and understood in colleges and universities around the world is beyond the scope of many here, it seems, who have trouble with anything that isn't literal or shiny. Give them a visual metaphor to look at and they run around like headless chickens and scream DNMC. There seems to be a severe lack of lateral thinking on this site. Still, it's the nature of the beast and i don't think there is any point getting too upset by it.
Anyway, no doors or door handles in my shot...

...there's a surprise! I actually love photos of doors and entranceways anyway and there are some great ones in the challenge. I did take one but this other shot came up and i couldn't resist. |

I found a lot of technically good shots, but not very many were exciting enough to move above a 5. My distribution is pretty much a lot of 4s,5s, and 6s with some outliers, I'm afraid. |

It's not like everyone's providing feedback for other challenges, anyway. Besides - rules of the site basically say that you only really need to give comments on the photos <3.
Still, for you, I'll comment away throughout the week - I do adjust photos as the week goes. |

I really think that unless you have amazing colors - there's no chance for you in any challenge. Maybe there will be hope for technically accurate photos in Black on Black.
