This is my final bump, I've actually reached my goal with a check that has been mailed in but not shown up on my page yet. But I'd sure like to get one final push from some members here. Cancer is such a far reaching disease with no boundaries on race, age, religion, or sex. Everyone knows or knows of someone affected by this terrible disease.

Thank you So much for your help! I am going to post some photos from the night here this weekend. I hope a lot of people get involved in these at their local events. Watching what has happened to my family, friends and boss this past year have made me realize just how terrible this disease really is.

A few images I took last night at the walk. Was very cold and windy and some of the photos I planned to take didn't happen because as you know long exposure and high winds don't make for good photos with everything moving. My boss was even able to make it out for about an hour and even managed to walk a lap! Thanks to everyone who helped support me, or has/is supporting another team. Our team topped the $6K mark, yes that is $6000!

Hey Matt,

First, let me thank you for doing this. It's a very worthy cause.

I lost my father to lung cancer/Mesothelioma two years ago, and my daughter was diagnosed with Leukimia (ALL) when she was 3, so I've been through the treatments, ups, downs, etc... many times.

I made my donation in the remembrance of my father, my daughter is doing awesome. They basically put on her medical record, "Had childhood Leukemia." She's been doing fine with no treatments for 8 years now.

Things like this do make a difference.

God Bless

Thank you for your donation, I'm very sorry for your loss. With each dollar raised there is hope that there will be more birthdays and less reasons for Remembrance. I'm happy that your daughter is doing well!

It is with deepest of hearts that I let you know that we lost my editor to his battle with Cancer at 8:45 last night. His family and friends spent his last day at his bedside.

Cancer sucks.

Oh this is so sad. I saw on FB that you got to see him yesterday (?) so I am glad you had that chance to do that. Hugs and prayers to you and his family.

Matt,

I'm so sorry to hear your friend and editor lost his battle. Cancer does indeed suck.

A battle has been lost, but the fight continues until we win the war...

Thanks Michelle and Alex.

Yes Michelle I skipped an assignment last night and went and sat with him and his wife and family for an hour last night. Warren and I had said our goodbyes a few weeks ago when he knew this day was coming. But I needed to be there for his wife who has been amazingly strong through all of this.

My deepest sympathies MattO .. Will be saying prayers for his loved ones who will miss him so much. My mom suffered so much in her dying that your quest to raise awareness & money for the work that still has to be done touches me deeply. Thank you.

This will sound strange but it is fortunate that he knew it was coming. My mother-in-law lost her battle in April and she was still fighting it to the very end. She first started to realize how bad it was a week before she died. We put her in hospice and the day before she passed, she kept saying "this is too fast". She had terminal agitation on the day she died and my husband and I had to hold her down in bed until the nurses could come in with more medicine. She passed peacefully overnight but that day prior was difficult for me. I feel like I never got to say goodbye. So it makes me happy to hear that you did because I know how important that is.

My husband on the 5th of May was diagnosed with prostate cancer. How do I give a description of how this has effected our lives? I am scared and angry! Nighmares, trying to stay optomistic but at the same time sheer panic at the meer mention of the "C" word. On August the 17th we are officially adopting two of our grandchildren, and at the later part of August he is having surgery. This is a horrible disease that causes unmentionable pain and suffering to the one that is afflicted with it and destroys families emotionally and physically. I have participated in three relays for life this summer, with each step and each breath I pray for a cure for this horrible disease.

Juanice, you have my best wishes for you and your husband in this difficult time. Be strong and positive. 5 years ago I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer and underwent major surgery to remove the tumour, throughout it all we both remained positive. Cancer wasn't going to beat me at my age! I still have yearly check-ups, but everything else is back to normal, or it was until two years ago when my wife was diagnosed with Cancer of the Womb. Talk about a double whammy! She had surgery and like me, is back to normal(or as normal as she ever was:)) Fight it all the way and after surgery, tell your husband he needs to get home as soon as possible and get back to family life.

Matt, so sorry to hear of your editor's passing, I am sure he will be greatly missed by you all.

To anyone else who is fighting Cancer, my prayers are with you and your families.

I just thank the Gods that I am still here today, just as boring and irratating as usual.

Thank you so much Steve for your words of encouragement, so glad you and your wife are ok, will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. I will continue the fight for all cancer victims and their families. To all the others on here personally effected by this disease, we must keep our faith and brave the cold winds to be victorious.
