I looked up our team members. We consisted of quiet_observation (team captain), kashi, griz210, JuliBoc, krnodil, alans_world, & me ( Kelli). I'm in, but Mary says she'd prefer not to play. Julianne is willing to be captain. Could you guys chime in with whether you're in or out. Then I guess we'll figure out how many more team members we need. We won last time, maybe lightning will struck twice! LOL!

PLEASE PICK ME.... i dont have an invite so i am contemplating on creating my own team
04/04/2010 04:25:45 AM · #230
I would love to play, but to be fair to the team, I should not. The second half of the season I stand a good chance of being stuck in a hotel, working 60 hour work weeks, and having questionable access to the internet in Salt Lake ( 2 year multi bridge project).
My answer has to be no, but I wish you the best of luck.

Drat. I was actually getting ready to enter the funkier shot for "all things being equal" as opposed to the eye candy. But my husband pointed out the it's too pixelated. Phooey. I guess I've hit the limit on my camera -- it was too fine of a subject and it couldn't do it correctly.

I'm still looking for a DPL team if anyone is interested. If a team is finalized can they still add members?

I got to use my uncle's 40D today, it was awesome. I like the bigger size and sturdier build, and the viewfinder is so much bigger! It really didn't help with my whole "don't upgrade the camera body right now".

I probably shouldn't add that: you can get good prices on the 40D...

I'm really sucking in Three. But then again I knew it would. I even put a note in the photographers comments about why it would get a sucky score & sure enough my first (and only) comment says exactly what I wrote! LOL!...

Just looked at the current team names. Isn't there an "official" Team Suck? Would be a nice place for me :)

I'm right there with you ... the one commenter doesn't like what I thought was the whole point of the photo, and went to some trouble to achieve.... :-(

That is one very tall room! Will that be all for books?

so envious... next easter will you come build us a glorious Bokhylle like that?
04/05/2010 03:51:58 PM · #240
Got a four metre high wall?

There are a good few books and things to go in it, but I think the shelf at table height will have a few bottles and such on it...

you can put it in the Great Room. (um can you build us a Great Room?)

I need to do that for our daughter. I love books -- she devours them.

That's how I spent my Easter. Yesterday I demolished my garden shed ready for a new one. Today, I built a flat pack wardrobe, it amazes me how you can get such a big piece of furniture out of two small boxes...I think it is something to do with magick!

I was looking at used 5D prices, I wanted to go with a big upgrade if I did but I might just look to take a smaller step up the scale if I do.

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I've been missing in action for a while now but my life has been a different place this last few months and I have had to make some really big life choices but we shall carry on, right?

On a personal note, I have joined a local photo club and I entered my first competition, there were six categories and I entered four. Each person could enter 3 photos in every challenge and there were 350 people in our region that entered and most entered three photos so to be fair there were about 1000 entries in most of the challenge categories.

I expected to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack and I would have been very happy, for some 150-200 of the people who entered are photographers and that's all they do for a living. All of the judging is done blind and by number so everyone, new or old (just like here) has a chance to win.

There are 4 judges for each category and a total score out of 30 (top 3 scores). The categories I entered were, People General, Scapes, Action/Sports, and Photographers Choice. My placing and scores were as follows.

Category- People General, Entry #1, Score 29, Placing 1st
Category- People General, Entry #2, Score 28, Placing 2ed
Category- People General, Entry #3, Score 28, Placing 2ed

Category- Scapes, Entry #1, Score 28, Placing 1st

Category- Action/Sports, Entry #1, Score 28, Placing 1st

Category- Photographers Choice, Entry #1, Score 28, Placing 1st
Category- Photographers Choice, Entry #2, Score 26, Placing 2ed
Category- Photographers Choice, Entry #3, Score 24, Placing 4th

Needless to say I'm over the moon with the results and very happy that my wife pushed me to join. Seven of my eight entries will now move on to be judges in the regional finales on April 24th. I have to print them all 16x20 and mount them to their very exacting specifications or I'll get DQed so the two club presidents are going to help me do it the right way.

All the best.

MAX!

Wendy, shouldn't you be feeding her food???????

Holy cow, that's AWESOME Max! Congrats!!! Always nice to get a different other-than-DPC perspective on things sometimes!

Hope everything in the "real life" world is working out OK, too.

Way to go Max!

I've toyed with the idea of joining a real-world camera club again (was a member of one many moons ago) however never thought they'd offer me enough in comparison to DPC, or anywhere close to the same value for money... perhaps it's time to reconsider. :)

Congratulations on an outstanding showing!

I just recently joined a real-world camera club, and was pleased and amazed at the quality there! I'm missing it tonight, because I don't feel well.

Way to go Max!!! Awesome!!

And nope -- we tried feeding her food once, but she'd rather have books! :P
