Me too, Alan - I guess we'll just have to go back to reluctant involvement in places that would accept us as members . . . and I have been thrown out of better places than this.

Hmmmm, I was asked to sing a solo for Good Friday. I suggested "and he never said a mumblin' word". I haven't sung hardly at all in the last year & 1/2. I'm very nervous. So I checked my messages today, and I got a message from the music directory saying that the pastor really wants to end with "were you there". I thought, ok, I can switch, that's fine with me. Then he goes on to say, "and we can use the other one in a different part of the service."

ARGH!! Now I'm doing two, and I was nervous enough with one! I took voice lessons for a couple of years, and it helped significantly. I started singing today, and I can't remember anything about it -- I just know it doesn't feel quite right, and things sound tight.

One I could handle. Two is giving me the willies!

Wow, sounds like some stressful stuff if you let it get to you but otherwise should be quite fun! Go for it! :-)

lol -- here's how tonight went:

I sang the first song

They crucified my lord,
and he never said a mumblin' word,
They crucified my lord,
and he never said a mumblin' word,
not a word, not a word, not a word.

Time passed. Time for the second song and I sang the second song

They crucified my lord,

pause... realize that I started singing the first song instead of the second song, started in a new key:

Were you there, when the crucified my lord...

I'm really hoping that they thought I did it on purpose.

oh well -- oops!

It's called artistic license.

From Wikipedia...

In summary, artistic license is:

* Entirely at the artist's discretion
* Intended to be tolerated by the viewer (cf. "willing suspension of disbelief")[3]
* Useful for filling in gaps, whether they be factual, compositional, historical or other gaps[4]
* Used consciously or unconsciously, intentionally or unintentionally or in tandem[5]

I use it all the time when performing live music, or pushing a shutter button.

;-)

haha, if they were anywhere near the same key, it probably would have been a pretty cool idea! But the extra long pause and the key change probably gave it away.

Just explain that you usually perform them as a medley, and that you have a hard time getting into the second without the lead-in from the first ...

Thanks ... Here is the resized (but otherwise unedited) original for comparison.

According to the notes on the entry, I used some noise-reduction, tweaked the color and contrast a little with Curves (RGB and Blue/Yellow channel), and not much else. Canon S3 IS: ISO 80 | f4.00 | 1/100sec

I thought this one was pretty good too, and was shot with an Olympus camera, albeit one which was then seven (now ten) years old ...
Entry: Resized original:
Noise-reduction but otherwise hardly adjusted at all. Olympus D490Z: ISO 167 | f2.8 | 1/40sec

BTW: I always get a laugh every time someone remarks on the color quality of one of my pictures, since I have a fairly common form of red-green color-blindness, and I never know what the rest of you are seeing. :-)

Mary, are you going to put our team back together for the DPL? I'm in if you do. Let me know. Other former OOFer's interested?

Just checked my old team (ISOelectrics), no one has been active this year, so if you need another member....

JuliBoc may be interested in resurrecting OOFer's. I would email her.

I'm afraid I'm pretty much out-to-lunch most of the time.
