phew! I was thinking I was getting DNMCed based on my score, but I was pretty sure I met the challenge. I guess my shot just isn't as good as I thought.

Going up a touch on this one, while my FS is dropping. They might meet in the middle.

Trust me, they'll hate you less.

It's a funny thing: *I* had thought that the REASON for the "foreground or background element" clause in the description was to remind people that framing doesn't just HAVE to be in front of the object being framed, which is how some anal people have interpreted it in the past; that framing is a visual thing, not a matter of spatial orientation. Now I'm getting 1's because my framing elements are not enough in front of or behind my subject? Jesus wept! From one level of nit picking to another in one fell swoop...

I gave out eight 10s.....for me, the unusual & creative manner whereby they were framed was what made the difference between a good image, and a truly exceptional image.

Just got slammed with a couple of lowball votes, taking me down from 5.72. Naturally, no accompanying explanation why they think it sucks.

Aww, thanks for noticing!!

And not just by a touch either, this baby is more than .5 ahead of my current PB.

Maybe this is a sign that I'm starting to suck less..

Could be. Got to warn you though, that first 6+ entry is what gets one hooked for good and coming back to get beat up again each week.

This one started at 7+ but has been falling every day. Fingers crossed it has levelled out a bit now!

Quite ... but I think the challenge strongly implies that the framing element is either significantly in front of or behind the subject. Though given DPCers slightly less than strict interpretation of the challenges in the past (hey lets just take them as guidelines rather than rules) I doubt your photo is deserving of 1s. Personally if its a good photo I generally score it a 4 or 5 if I think its DNMC .... I reserve 1 to 3 for really badly taken shots.
