Don, extra good job on your commenting this week!
btw... where's that old Yappie trophy? It should be dusted off and passed around.

Wildcard

O, this is just stunning. Soft, gentle, and looming in the edge of vision. Like a loving, but strict parent, when we know we're doing something wrong. The zone plate was the perfect choice for the dandelion.

Thank you Christian..happy dance.

Thank you both xianart and posthumous for the recognitions; so much of the work in these respective challenges was stunning and personally delightful.

To carry on the XPrize marathon; Kids with Toys

Wildcard

Fascinating, confusing, angelic. A hoola hooping angel in an eyeball. I wish I understood this, but am happy just to watch...

Sevlow

Lovely rich tones. And the all important - the toy (the fact that it's a camera is even better!), the feeling of the toy in the hands. That's all he can see, so that's all we can see.

posthumous

O, the joy of big boxes. And hiding in the bottom of the frame. Excellent tones and composition, simply scrummy.

I know it seems like the same people are getting these, but, I swear, it's not like that! My ribbons are simply the bottom scorers of my top scores, in reverse order. I guess the repeat winners of XPrizes have their own styles, and like them...

And now Layers XPrizes

cutout

Dark, yet soft, smooth yet textured, a confusing image that nevertheless draws one in for keeps. Poor Cyrano, he still seems lonely.

posthumous

The layers of light between us and them. How can we communicate, if we can't wade through the honey weighted light?

jmritz

O, clean and pure angles, one two, three. Coming out at us, deep grain and all. What structure can this be, we conjure magical buildings for these layers to support.

And now Free Study XPrizes. Nearly all caught up!

aliqui

A fascinating, warm and soft image. Crisp focus and soft edges combine to make this draw us in. You can almost smell it.

jmritz

You stumble from the casino, pockets and head much the worse for wear, bow tie askew, cummerbund hidden by your shirt, when you look up and see this vision. Grace Kelly sweeps down the steps, pauses and smiles at you, and carries on. You are instantly better, blessed by this earthbound angel.

PapaBob

O, this is stunning. Sometimes a title is descriptive, sometimes it makes no difference, but sometimes it deepens the image. And this does the job perfectly. The threat is both implied and imminent, and yet we willingly go into the maw.

Free Study Picks:

My tens went to vlado and 4trtone.

My nines went to whiteroom, arngrimur, posthumous, zeuszen, jmritz and jdannels

Every one these have been acknowledged here already (with good reason). Instead of showing them again, I picked some among my sevens and eights that I thought deserved a second look (in no particular order):

Last in the catch-up XPrizes; Fireworks!

posthumous

A burst of light, an explosion of phoenix flight, flying from in darkness to enrichen us all.

skewsme

Fire, or dandelion head, the smoke ends trail though our consciousness. Lovely and soft, and explosion of fuzziness.

Odie

Starship flights, galactic birds brush their feathers across our souls. Lovely work.

Thanks xianart, I have to give my wife credit for the title, it is a saying her Mom used to say and when she suggested it I knew it fit what I was trying to portray in the photo. I appreciate the award, it is always fun when others take the time to acknowledge one of your images and getting mentioned in this thread is always an honor!

Thanks! That certainly is reassuring as I finished in the bottom 4%. Here's that loaf finished if anyone is interested. Not that you can have any (I ate it!), but you can look, heh.
