I saw the ad on the back cover of Digital Photographer and looked up their website. I looked through the gallery and it looks like fun software, especially for improving a shot that is decent but blah. But is it cheating too much? I know some of this stuff can be achieved with Photoshop but this looks like it is probably a bit more user friendly. Anybody try the demo?

Cheating? I would consider it to be going too far for DPC challenges, but that Mystical Lighting looks cool! I'd use it a lot on digital art stuff.

I have this and I have tried to use it on occasion but have found it quite frustrating. I guess I ought to read up on it and try it some more. I agree that the effects you see from their ads and in the tutorials are fascinating. Have yet to get anything close to them but I'll keep trying.

I meant cheating in photography in general. It would definitely be cheating in DPC challenges. It does look fun. Figures it's not as easy as they make it look. I've used lighting effects plug-ins in Photoshop 4 and they aren't that hard to use actually. I like the look of the shadow overlays. I forget what they called it. |

it works well, you can check out a poster i did for a concert and i used it:

its the second one down. its fine to add lots of fx to pictures, but the more you can capture and less editing you do to a shot the better it will be. it has lots of neat control variables, but the gui is a little klugy.
