FYI - if you watched the Buick Classic golf tourney on the weekend you could see one in action. I saw one of the photographers there carrying it from the 18th green (over his shoulder by the black "suitcase style" handle) after Padraig Harrington made the putt to force a playoff.

Well, I'm missing good Euro 2004 coverage cos I'm just looking at all that Canon L glass, jeez there are a few bucks around the pitch. Thought I'd seen a 1200 but not sure football/soccer is the right place for one?

Mind you, if I had a second, I wonder if I could reverse couple one to the other for a rather spiffy macro lens? Can you get coupling rings for them?

Jacko? Could you do that? ;-) 2 of these lenses reversed coupled...could probably the individual cells of the fly... LOL

Usually, with long lenses, extension tubes are used to get closer focus.

It should be just under 4 feet long.

From what I've read, there are only about 10 in existance, so its doubtful they'd be at a soccer game (where probably something like a 400 or 500 is close to too long for a lot of the action)

Even cooler, they added the 2x TC, making it the equivalent of a 17280mm f8 lens.
