I'm hoping there will be a "I don't give a damn" team as far as scoring and placement. Or several of those. Maybe one for the street shooters, even. Or not. Who knows? Good to see the enthusiasm, though.

My point about the Ribbon Hogs from earlier was there was never even any suspense - they never came close to losing. It was actually rather dull - except for them, maybe. The real fun was in the B and C leagues. Hope to see something like that again. But yeah, the Hogs did produce and the photography was the winner in the end as far as that goes.

Yeah! I had a lot of fun with it last time because I knew I didn't have to compete with those guys. Then again, I was on a winning team even if we were the "C" league.

I actually like this! As long as the choosing doesn't happen in public. I'd hate to be the last one picked... So embarrassing. I remember it from elementary school... *sigh*

Don't worry Lydia, you won't be the last one picked if I can get involved

Same here..I was in the "A" league last time - it was exciting to play against those great teams, but didn't matter to me one little bit that we didn't win. The competition is less than 1% of what I love about WPL/DPL.

Can someone explain to me what the DPL is and why some are almost treating this like good sex, or better. :)

I've browsed the threads about this and found nothing to tell me this is different than say, our Olympics or any other competition here on DPC?

It's all based on scores, right? So why is this different than the DPC Olympics?

Thanks.

This is definitely the team I want to be on. I have been so negligent of my photography for so long, this is exactly what I need to kick my butt out the door with my camera..

Hipychik has suggested an Olympus team in another thread. Anyone interested?

The DPC Olympics were thrown into the mix to fill the void left by the disappearance of WPL/DPL. They were "privately run", not official, as indeed was the WPL for several seasons. Then DPC arranged to take over WPL, made it DPL, set it up real professionally, then put it on hiatus after one season while they ironed out some quirks that had people asking questions. The hiatus, unfortunately, lasted for quite a while (a couple years?) and people were upset.

So the DPC Olympics was kind of a grass-roots response to that.

I think that's the history in a nutshell, but don't quote me on it, my tired, old brain doesn't retain all that well anymore :-)

I vote for stacked teams!!! It's not like they don't do that in the real world...

In the real world it is cut-throat winner take all, strictly business

It's not like NASCAR has rules to keep things even between the different makes.
It's not like colleges are limited on the number of scholarships they can grant.
It's not like the NFL, MLB and NBA use a draft system and salary caps to event things out.

Oh wait a minute, yes it is.... Sorry, my bad...

Good idea! And if life follows the rules laid down by films & TV we would come from behind to win at the very last minute ; )

Thanks Robert. Once again you come through with the historical data I was after but couldn't find. ;\
