I see the description in the latest challenge

"Go out and find or create some graffiti... and then capture it, of course."

is suggesting that we could, as an option, create graffiti.

Isn't this generally considered to be vandalism and an offence in law in many countries?
Surely DPC aren't suggesting we go out and commit and offence in order to create a photograph :)

I guess different people look at such directions in different ways.
It made me smile.... I had silly visions of covering my house, my family and my dog in spray paint.

Lighten up - I'm sure it wasn't an invitation to do something criminal!

ETA: then again, I suppose your ":-)" is meant to tell us you weren't serious, right?

Maybe we should cover each other in spray paint. I suggest we start with Art Roflmao

you are correct in that I wasn't being serious :)

I see someone attempting to sue DPC, blaming them for their arrest.

Then surely they are reconsidering a challenge suggestion I submitted a long time ago:

Razing Villages (Advanced Editing)
Photograph the burning, pillaging and plundering of your local town or village.
Special Rules: If there is no razing going on, you may create the mayhem yourself.

Lucky you moved back to Australia, Karin. :P

This one scares me a little.

Are we to judge the quality and aesthetics of the graffiti or the ability to photograph a wall?

I don't plan to get caught but if I do, this defense may come in handy. j/k :)

I would love to be a tagger for just one day (and exempt from any laws of course).

and what about the naughty words? (in pre-existing graffiti, of course)

Guess I'll need to take a trip to Philly. LOL! Maybe this one would have done better in this challenge.

12 hours after rollover, all the entries will be disqualified under the pre-exisiting artwork rule.

NOW we have this challenge. Bah!! Tremendously good artistic graffiti where I used to live. Where I am now? Probably won't find much. I suppose I could try getting down to LA for a day....

I felt similarly about the Veggie Tales challenge (among others) -- were we judging photography skills or the ability to build miniature dioramas?

I'd say the strongest entries are going to be ones where the graffiti is just significant component of a larger scene.

You have a point there - I bet that the prettiest, most colourful graffiti will do better than ugly one, regardless of the photo.

Plus I'm anticipating HDR effect screaming at me from every second image..... ugh.

But... What *most* people call "HDR" is actually topazing/tone mapping of a single exposure, and that's now legal in basic :-)
