in fact there have been a few threads about a 50' telescoping boom with a platform on top that had remote-controls for a camera. it also had a platform at the base where you could put a laptop, and with a 50' USB connection, you could actually control a camera that was liveview enabled. at least one of the threads had a link to a site with a bunch of sample shots.

and i've been looking for the past hour or so with no luck.

could someone give me a hand? thanks!

thanks, rich! i think that was one of the links, but it's not the main one.

i'm starting to find some interesting stuff through google, but i still can't find the one that was in the dpc thread.

the thread was one of those can-you-believe-this type of threads.

thanks, jac!

unfortunately, those are related to astrophotography; what i'm looking for was a post or two related to a mast or boom that went up about 50' high, giving perspectives like what you could from a kite or rc airplanes or helicopters.

Just do what I did....climb onto the house roof...tie your camera to the end of a broom and have fun...hehehehe!

I know exactly which thread you are speaking of, but having trouble finding it. It included someone's photo of how they did this at home (if this is the correct one).
I'll keep looking! (I HATE when you know what you're looking for, but cannot fin it, lol!)

I didn't see the original thread here, but I think I know what you want and I've found it.
Luksa Tripods
For the curious, I first heard about that over at Strobist when they were talking about Luksa's 40 foot light stand. Check the comments at the bottom for lots more giant stands of various sorts that other folks have found.

Here's an offsite thread you might be interested in.

//www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=676545
This looks similar to the type of thing you're interested in too //www.aerialphotographymast.co.uk/index.php
And the main aerial photography area has lots and lots of stuff.
