On Wednesday after a 10 hour day of working in the rain (I build bridges) I was standing outside the work yard waiting for the wife to pick me up. A small car pulled to the side of the road and approached me, figuring it is someone asking directions which is common on new roads, I go find out what the driver wants. The driver smiled at me, said Merry Christmas and handed me a small fold of dollar bills then drove off. After watching the car disappear down the road in what can only be described as awe, I looked down at myself my coat and coveralls caked in mud, my hair in a hardhat all day not the most stylized, by the side of the road my duffle bag holding the rest of the things needed for a day of work a bit off the beaten path ( the yard located on a new exit, but my work area 20 miles into the desert) I guess I‘m looking the bum.
Not wanting this token Christmas spirit fade, I add enough to send a respectable amount to Coins for Kids a local radio stations drive to give presents to families less fortunate.

Merry Christmas
Alan

While at a gas station, I was cleaning my front window. A man approached me, handing my a $20. He said it was for pump # 4. Then he proceeded to leave in his car. I went inside and paid the two gas bills. The staff had a goood laugh, as well as I. Unfortunately they did not
offer me a job! #%$^

It’s 3 AM, and here I sit quietly, not unlike years ago as children my sister and I, waited for the magical 5AM when it was safe to disturb sleeping parents, staring in awe at all the brightly wrapped packages under a blue tree, and a half eaten cookie left for Santa the night previous.

It's 3AM and here I sit quietly, knowing full well my children will sleep well into the morning, too old to buy into the half eaten cookie by a fat guy in a red suit. Remembering a life full of highlights along with lows.

That stranger gave me much-much more than a few dollars.

It’s 3AM and here I sit quietly…

Merry Christmas Alan. I shot this just a few days ago and just felt like it fit here. It was at the holiday party for kids from a home for runaways/abused children. They were fantastic kids, one and all. My friend Pete was Santa and he always asks me to shoot the kids. They love getting a pic of them with Santa.
I hope your Christmas continued in the sweet way it began, Alan.

OMG Alan, that story is priceless! What a great gesture on their behalf, and an even greater one of yours to pass it along to a worthy cause :-)
