Now that I've become an iPhonian, I'm surveying friends to find the apps that are indispensable. I think I have all of the good ones, but would love to hear from you guys.

So, what are the apps you just can't live without; use every day; love so much; entertain yourselves with when you're waiting for late clients; etc.?

Geocaching (I guess only useful if you're into geocaching)
Gowalla - like virtual geocaching
Pandora Box/AppSniper - for finding free/reduced price apps
Hottest App - interesting to see what others are downloading, have found some decent apps with it
Waze - maps (including a pacman like game where you drive around new roads eating up dots), gps, speaks directions as you go (still lots of issues with maps though) and live traffic updates (though only as good as those who are using the app currently). For a free app, it has lots of potential, but not quite there yet.
Sky Voyager - great star program (I picked it up for free... there is a smaller version called SkyGazer that is cheaper)
PS Mobile - handy for simple photo editing
Grocery Gadget
For fun - Charadium (like pictionary), Scramble2 (like Boggle)

Cheaper than free!??

Shazaam - hear a piece of music in a shop, or on the radio and dont know what it is - just record about 20 secs of it and it will tell you - 99% hit rate.

Co-Pilot Live - Satnav proggy, incredibly good and only £25 - with Live traffic.

Lots of various Spanish teaching apps.

The Sky Voyager is 14.99 I think but I picked it up for free. So the SkyGazer is cheaper than that :)

One of the coolest that I heard of over the holidays (I don't own an iPhone or iPod Touch myself) is one called "Run P" (or "Run Pee"). It tells you the best spots in a movie to go pee (and how long you can stay gone) and not miss anything important to the plot :)

XCWeather - for wind speeds
Amazon UK - take a picture of a book or object and Amazon will identify it and take you to the appropriate page where you can check the price and put it in your basket.
Doodle Jump - great game
Finger Physics - fun puzzles
Fling - another good game
Google Earth - obviously
British Gas - for sending your meter reading
Moron Test - bit of lateral thinking
Red Laser - barcode scanner for price comparisons
Shazam - identify that tune
SketchBook - great Autodesk product
The trainline - find the next train home
Wikipedia - always useful
Theodolite - check inclines and altitudes
Weatherpro - for the best radar
RadioBOX - easy to use radio

Lose It! has been great for me. It helped me lose 15 lbs, and keep it off.
iTreadmill (pedometer) goes well with Lose It! to know how many calories you have burned by walking.
TWC (The Weather Channel). I use it all the time. Here in Florida, it's important to keep an eye on the radar, because the rain is so spotty. I plan my outdoor activities accordingly.
PandoraBox to keep track of what apps are on sale. I get a lot for free by checking PandoraBox regularly.
Tap Sudoku is my favorite game. The interface is very nice.
Photogene is good for iPhone photos. It lets you make adjustments (exposure, sharpen, color balance, etc.) on your phone.

iBird Explorer is my favorite reference. It is an awesome North American bird field guide. It includes all the range, habitat, identification info that you would find in a paper book, but has lots more. The bird songs are something you can't get in a book, and the search engine makes bird identification lots easier than a book. There are also lots of photos which help with identification, because they show variations for maturity, seasonal changes, gender differences, etc. It is expensive for an iPhone app -- about what you would expect to pay for a book, but worth it if you like bird watching or bird photography. It has been featured on two iPhone TV commercials and is currently a nominee for Best App Ever in the category of "Outdoor Use".

It's by FitNow, Inc. I think the App Store category is Fitness or Health. And I think I got it for free. You should be able to find it just by entering 'Lose It!' in the search window.

"Weight Commander" (search on Google) used to be my favorite weight loss aid. It has similar function to Lose It, but it is not for the iPhone. There is an online version. Maybe that will help you.

That's too bad. Hopefully you can find an alternative.
