Here are a few more examples. sarsonuk, a lot of us here will be happy to give you some tutorial advice.

Also, our most talented roz wrote a tutorial a while back, which will be helpful.

And finally, there is a texture library in the galleries here. Users have uploaded images that can freely be used for overlays.

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes PLEASE! Sign me up for this. I've been suffering side challenge withdrawal symptoms and this will be the perfect remedy.

Overlays

Does that include Photomatix? I've always referred to these as Blends but I guess you could call them overlays too. I love the way they come out!

We've got a good group going here. More are welcome.

If you never experimented with overlays you don't know what you're missing.

Come join in the fun.

I haven't hardly taken any photos at all. This will get me going, then I can cover them up with layers. LOL

For those in areas where it is already December, what are you waiting for?

Start posting. ;o)

Or do you need a squeaky clean new thread for that? ;o)

Inspired by redjuleps mention of the Tarot on her wonderful first image i've decided to make for myself a side challenge within this side challenge and attempt to make each of my images 'inspired' by the Tarot trumps. The Tarot, i feel, is a wonderful pictorial narrative whether you believe in other aspects of it or not. It's a fascinating thing to explore and look at. My first 'card' may be a bit of a shoehorn i guess, as i was going to put it in anyway, but i feel it does have many aspects of the 'first card'. The skull can be seen as both a beginning and an end of course.

Sure can.

Maggye
and
gsal

added.

I'm not adding to the list any more so if you want to participate, just post an overlay. Don't forget to include some details in the photographer details area so we can learn something along the way.

Have fun with it.

I've never really done overlays and I am still learning GIMP, but I'd like to give it a go! Still room?
