I got news today from the editor at Vermont Magazine that a photo I entered in the photography content for the magazine has been selected for the cover in the upcoming November/ December issue.

I was hoping to get a shot or two published, but never expected to get the cover. Here is the shot.

I will post a link when the cover is published.

The editors decided that my shot spoke rural Vermont, set a tone for the coming winter, and of course had colors with a subtle holiday feel that worked for what they were looking for.

I really feel that DPC has been a big part of helping me develop and improve my photography. You guys on DPC have helped me so much, from critique, to comment, to encouragement, to providing constant challenges to improve my skills and my vision for the shot and the light. Thanks DPC. You ROCK!

The breath there is amazing! Congratz on your cover =D I'm waiting for a magazine that's using one of my photos. Would've been cool if it hit the cover.

Actually, I did....I hadn't even considered this shot for submission, but she insisted that I enter it, and I almost switched it for another shot at the last minute but I didn't have any more CDs to burn so I sent it in as is...LOL!

Getting a cover shot is always a hell of an achievement - almost like "best of show"..

The crazy thing is, and this is maybe an example of how skewed/spoilt we are on DPC (me included) this would be a low/mid 6 scoring image in a challenge, but in the real world its cover page material, this should be a boost to those who beat themselves up weekly over their `low` scores.

A huge well done!

Mark - It is funny you say that. The month I shot the image, I was debating entering it in the FS. But I had guessed it wouldn't fair any better than about 5.5-5.7...

I guess DPC taints our vision sometimes, but it clearly makes us try harder...
