I'm a bit confused about some of the voting, myself. I got a comment from a viewer: "needs a better title, but love the picture and the set up. 6" If I "love the picture and the set up"

I remember this photo and in my haste to attempt a 100% comment I did not spend nearly enough time explaining myself and I apologize.

In the photo in question, I felt it missed on two of the criteria I vote on, title and meeting the challenge. I also vote based on technical quality and originality.

I'm a newbie to the site and have asked previously about voting and scoring to get a feel for if i'm being too harsh in my judgement, as i give a heavier weight to "meeting the challenge" since that is sort of the whole point?

The best comment i've seen regarding voting so far was from the same viewer that trashed my photo ironically...(stated a little coldy for my taste but still hits the mark)

the votes are designed to reflect the perception of the viewer (me), not the photographer (you)

I'd love to hear more feedback regarding voting, I'm sure it's in a thousand threads previously but as I said, I'm a newbie and have limited my thread reading to current challenges...

since you wanted feedback on your voting... I found it sad that you included title as part of your voting criteria. One of the reasons that I do photography is that I'm not very creative in other areas. I struggle mightily every time I have to title a photo, and most of my titles stink, but not from lack of effort. I always hoped that people voted like me: I never vote down because of a title, but I have increased a vote when a title has given me extra enjoyment of the photograph at hand. I figure it's a photography contest, first and foremost. So lack of creativity on the writing side shouldn't hurt a picture, imo.

btw, I'm going for my personal worst with this one:

At least I'm starting to go back up but .0407 with 15 votes isn't what I was looking for. Sure wish I could get the folks that voted a 5 and below to change their minds and rethink about voting a dad higher. I mean come on do we really deserve low scores?

exactly why i asked for feedback. makes more sense to reward a creative title than to punish a poor one. thank you.

jmulvihill, mark082, EstimatedEyes and I were the only ones who commented on every photo. Often we were all on the same page, sometimes not at all...At least I stayed over 5 with this.. Dirt_Diver, now you know why I only had 15 seconds. After that my little white and black diamond encrusted bejeweled gecko took off...
