I think I am better past the "I don't get it" stage, but I'd still like to play more.
What are all you DPChallenge folks actually doing with it right now?
Given the multimedia sharing and collaboration features available, should we try to create a shared photo album wave?
Here is an idea (just to start the conversation):
A Before and After gallery. We start with some images people volunteer to post and all wave participants are then allowed to edit/rename/rearrange, etc and see what we get.
or we could just start a wave to see what we should do in a wave. :)
or (for those of us with a technical bent) we could try to create some DPChallenge specific extensions
who wants to play?

So after the hype has died down - is anyone out there still USING this?
It was far too slow and cumbersome for me - started getting confusing as well... |

I'd forgotten about it! - I haven't logged in for ages. I found it was too difficult to easily see new additions to a wave. Also, large waves started to get very very slow. |

No - no joke. The link should have taken you to the 'manual' for Wave. The top of the page has the advert for purchasing the book. The bottom half has links to each chapter online. What did you think was a joke?
If all you want is info on Wave, read the first chapter.

| Yeah, I found that large waves get really slow really fast. My uses for Wave are few and far between, but I am currently using it for a collaborative academic project. |

Thats interesting - how did you find it converting your personal contacts to use it? No one I suggested it to seemed to enjoy it/pick it up very well. Do you think it still has a long way until it matures? |

Professional: as the boss I have some say in how things work. I installed it and started the types of waves I saw us using it for. When I got invites to send out I prioritized by department and sent invites. When they received them I told them to just notify me and I would take it from there to get them set up. Then I installed Chrome (fastest vehicle for Wave) and added them as contacts to the appropriate waves. Not one person has complained or indicated any frustration in using it. I created one Wave that has all company contacts in it so all could add them and also provided a link to the Wave Guide online as well as outlined the proposed uses for Wave and invited all to comment and also add suggestions for uses. I can say now three months into it, all are using it regularly, about 50% have it running and minimized to the taskbar and check when they see they have new info. I have a monitor dedicated to Wave in the office so I can respond rapidly when needed. I also have a few of our biggest customers into it as well and this works great for the design and engineering departments. Many,many uses in the office and everyone seems to have just gone with it. I know most also use it for personal communications now as well.
Personal: I simply sent invites to my kids, mom, wife with instructions and informed them that from now on I would be using Wave for communicating. No one complained and even my mom loves it. Her and my sister are using it all day - text, voice and video as well as pictures and stuff from projects they are working on (my sis makes specialty baby things by hand and some of the stuff my mom makes for her store) so they just found it so much easier to communicate since my sis is in Texas and mom in NY. I don't think they use the phone at all anymore.
My kids and especially my grandkids love it as they love to video chat with me, post pics of stuff they do in school and their activities, etc. (my grandson loves to set the webcam so I can watch him play Wii)
Honestly, I never found any confusion or frustration in using it/learning it and from the first day I heard about it could not wait to get my invite and start. I tried cruising the public waves - just not into them and there are public waves on almost everything. But for work and family it has been great.
