I've tried Wave on Safari, IE, and Firefox and they all eventually bog down. So if anyone is experiencing slowness or lag, then try running it on Google Chrome which gives (not surprisingly) much better performance.

Download Chrome here

discovered public waves now----waving with all kinds of people now !! Hoping to get some invites soon, and I discovered a wave of people asking for invites and receiving them.

I would love an invite if someone has one to give. I was a beta tester for gmail and was hoping I might get a shot from Google directly but no go :-( So if someone is so inclined I would love an invite!

I've just invited you :)

No guarantees as to when that will turn up though!

No, nothing, and I did check the junk mail folder, too, just in case.

I do appreciate your gesture, thank you very much for it, and cross fingers that the invite just wants to whiz around cyberspace for a bit before it arrives in my inbox.

Don't hold your breath, I sent a couple off this morning when I first got mine, that was 12 hours ago and none of them have arrived yet.

My invite just arrived, and it only took four days ;-) Thanks, Iain.

So now what do I do with it? Will I want to change my gmail address to this one, or keep it? I guess I'll figure it out in time.
I'm there as Beetle63 [at] googlewave [dot] com.

You mean like Google Moon? It's purpose is to establish a colony on the moon. Ok, maybe not...

I have been using it for two weeks now with family as well as coworkers and it so far has been much more efficient on the work front as well as much more fun on the personal level.

Ok, I'll admit it. I've signed into Google Wave and I just don't *get* it. What am I supposed to do with it, anyway? Do I really need to watch that hour-plus video to get it?

Could someone pretty please answer that question?

I could explain a lot of uses for it/how to use it/etc., etc., but even from their own "The Complete Guide to Google Wave" (read the first chapter - Meet Google Wave) You will find where they discuss this:

"Google Wave's biggest downfall is how overwhelming it can be for new users when they try it out. Parody web site EasierToUnderstandThanWave.com [3] jokes that heady topics like radiocarbon dating, neoclassical economics, and polymodal chromaticism are easier to understand than Wave. The joke rings true because the initial Wave confusion is a nearly universal experience. The first waves you're bound to receive from your friends and co-workers, fresh on Wave, will say things like "I don't get it" and "This is weird."
