OK, it's a lame score thread title, but 40 minutes after rollover nobody else appears to have any wittier ideas.

Looks promising for me out of the gate.

I'm sorry it's so lonely over here! You guys even had more entries. Come on over to the other challenge and we'll give you a hug :D

I'm not a touchy feely kind of guy. Besides, my wife would get jealous. Oh, heck. It's only on the interenet, whose going to know?

Had a quick look over a few of the entries. Some really good stuff in this challenge, including some really good entries that I expect to get creamed for using shallow DOF instead.

I am not sure that the term "Deep DOF" was very clear for some people. I see a lot of macro entries.
Macro , by its nature , can provide only a shallow DOF and this is another challenge.

Wow, do photographers know what deep Depth-of-Field is??

There were quite a few images where there is clearly an out of focus foreground and background, with very little DOF range.

That's true. So how are you going to vote for them?

Actually, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they thought that this challenge meant shallow DOF or that they meant to submit to the "Missed Focus" challenge!

So, on voting for those types of images, I just skip them. I voted on the ones with a deep DOF. I just made one pass through the entries and voted on the deep ones. The ones I voted with an 8, I will go back later in the week and review those--some will move up to a 9, some may even drop just a bit.

As for me, I got a comment that my photo has a shallow DOF. But I have to disagree, I use no less that F8 in my photo but because my photo is a portraiture and not a landscape make people think that the DOF is shallow.

I'll be happy if it stays there (having posted this, it will surely drop from now on)

I am right aren't I, deep DOF means in focus across most if not all of the distance in a photograph?
09/23/2009 04:00:53 AM · #18
anyway I'm happy..... 6.0x maybe this category will be my first six ... I hope that feels as good as I dream it does ;-)

I seem to have gone and submitted a pic I like rather than one that will do well again lol

you're right. probably you asking this because you got confused with all the shallow DOF images in this challenge. there will be a lot of DNMC comments here
09/23/2009 04:31:12 AM · #21
I have never seen so many DNMC entries before. I can only imagine that many people did not understand "Deep DOF"

I'm good so far. A 6+ was very unexpected.

Here we go again................! This really f**ks me off.......i've just dropped 0.2 in 3 votes! Every vote up till now has been 7 or above, then 3 sub 3's in a row......... Come out you cowards! At least based on the last 12 months, I know it'll slowly move back up from tonight...... ( Probably said too soon! )

My photo doesn't have some good score, but I least tried my photo to fit the theme. At first I didn't know what really my task is, but I spent few minutes on the forums so to figure that out. I don't know why many people missed the theme.
The macro shots were great but I had to give a lower score than the others to be fair to the photographers who really tried their photo to fit the contest

You have rated 151 of 152 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 40 images (26%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 5.5960.
