Fee offered : E150.00
Usage: the image will be used for a shop decoration fabric in the size of 75 x 180 cm in a printrun of max 5000 used in Europe.
I honestly don't know exactly what "shop decoration fabric" is for starters so, if someone could help me there...? I researched it and don't see how the image fits at all BUT I'm more curious what they'll generate from a "printrun of max 5000"?
Is $220 worth it before I pay out a commission?

| This is only a guess but it sounds to me like perhaps they want to use it as a pattern on fabric for chairs or curtains or something along those lines. I say this because I was at a resturant a few weeks ago and they had photos of various landmarks around this city on their booths and chairs. actually was kind of cool looking. Must have cost them alot of money to have the fabric custom made. |

| That's $220 for all 5000. Seems like it should be more like $500. But what do I know, I've never sold anything but my old gameboy. |

The answer is you never know when you'll need $220. I'm tempted to say no to the offer but there's the half of me that's saying "who gives a f***" because it would be really neat to have an image used in such a way. I have already made money off of the shot so it's basically been paid for...so to speak. |

Yeah, I was gonna ask: is there much chance for profit on that shot otherwise? Like do you have multiple options for it, but this is just one? If not, I say go for it.
While im all for getting the most out of an image, sometimes we hvae to be realistic and take what we can get, but its always a risk in the sense that there is always the chance you will pass something up and nothing will come along, or youll take it, and a bigger deal comes along after. |

| What is the duration of the licence? Do they want exclusivity in that time? I would be looking at $750 - $1000, more if they want exclusivity. Don't sell yourself cheap, it damages the industry as a whole. |

Make sure you know what the withholding tax is for this deal beforehand. (It's found money, do it, it sets no precedents. It's a one time deal and they know it will be a bit more next time. Make it easy for both parties.)

I already didn't respond to three previous sales offers of the image over the years so, I may just lighten up a bit keeping in mind it's cheap BUT not a 20 cent download at the same time. I honestly don't know how to negotiate online (through Photographers Direct) and I have NO idea what the image is worth to this particular client. I know nothing about that industry or how they come upon prints/patterns or artwork so, I'm at a loss there.
Anyway, it has been used on a few websites for the splash page and I've sold a number of prints so, it still has legs to generate more money over time...right?

Ok, look at it this way - they are asking for a licence to do up to 5000 BIG prints (nearly 6 feet wide) and they've offered you E150.............. $1000 would still be a bargain to them ;)
