Hi All,
The other day when I was browsing I saw one ad of product. It was kind of lens adapter which I can fit on my digital camera, and then it will allow me to connect all those lenses which are there for 35mm normal SLR cameras!
Does anyone have idea about such a product?

| You can get lens adapters that will allow you to take wide angle or longer telephoto for some non-DSLR cameras. However, I'm not aware of an adapter that would allow you to mount a SLR lens on a camera with a fixed lens. |

| You may be able to get adapters that will allow you to physically mount the SLR type lenses but you will have problems with focusing (auto focus won't work and manual focus might not) and vignetting. Also conside that you will be putting a lot more weight on the front threads of your camera than they were designed to carry. Try the wide angle and teleconverters that were meant for your camera, they might please you. The Olympus TCON 17 has a very good reputation among teleconverter users. |

I could not find such an adapter, so I made my own. I used a collimating lens between the SLR lens and my digital camera.
Auto focus DOES still work though the focusing range is limited somewhat. The digital camera(s) must have at least a 3X optical zoom, otherwise the image is severely vignetted.
The entire assembly is rather bulky and heavy so I do not use it often. The quality of the collimating lens is critical. I used a 1:1 conjugate achromat salvaged from an oscilloscope camera.
For the lens bayonet mount ring I used a ring removed from a "C" mount(TV camera) adapter. By changing the adapter ring, I can use SLR lenses from my Olympus, Nikon, or Pentax cameras.
I do not recommend this method.

So final consensos is that it's not worth trying to use lenses of normal SLRs on your digital camera.

I think what you saw might be for the lense filters from any 35mm camera. I have one for ny 730 UZ . It screws onto the front of the camera and allows the lense to move back and forth, but you can use different lense filters on the adapter, hope that helps, unless you found one that gives you actual lense ability.

Hi Pioneer,
I am now doubtful. But I still feel that the product I saw was advertised to allow me to connect lenses and not just filters. I tried going to history of my browser but no luck yet! :(
