If I wandered out and bought a PS3 this weekend, would the PS4 come out the next day and piss me off?

You havea while yet, no next-next-gen consoles have even been announced, and I think Sony have only just released the slim PS-3 so you have a good few years of being `current`.

Thx. I noticed the word, and the price still at $300CAN. If all the specs are similar, I'd prefer a fat one at half the price. :-/

Consider the Wii over a PS3. While not the graphics monster the PS3 is, the games a cheaper and way more fun, especially if you have kids.

We just got the Wii Sports Resort with the new Wii MotionPlus for the remote that gives you much better control.

I scored 2093 in 100 pin bowling. You get 100 pins in each frame. Loads of fun. My 9 year old son is awesome with the ski boarding and sword play. Ping pong is fun too.

The new slimmer version is finally getting me to buy one, although not right away.

You're not going to find a fat one for half-price. The people WITH one aren't giving them up, and the stores aren't going to be dropping the prices of the ones they still have, and they aren't in production anymore either.

Unless you just get lucky and find a store that DOES do just that, and halve the fat PS3. I guess it could happen. Not around here.

I love the fat PS3, the touch sensitive buttons are cool. If you just got your hands on a PS3, then look for these must have games-

-Metal Gear Solid 4 (Best game ever)
-Dragon Age Origins (Will be better on the PS3)
-Unchartered 2 (Casual gamers would enjoy)
-Valkria Chronicles (RPG for non RPG fans)

Hehehe. It always makes me laugh when people post things like "best game ever". Subjectivity as objectivity is amusing.

MGS4 is a waste of time and money.

See? I can play too.

? Not sure I understand your last sentence, but it's obvious that these choices are my personal tastes. And as for MGS4, if you think that then you obviously dislike it because of your opinion and personal tastes as well, so I can laugh now.

MGS4 takes a half a decade to make, its budget is light years beyond any other game, you have to appreciate the excellent cinematic movie directing, level design, strategy, story, AND...the price, currently retailing for $40.

Actually, there are a million copies for sale in every store for $14.99 here. heh.

That last line meant that I was being facetious about saying it was a waste of time and money.

Like I said, I just get a kick out of anyone using "Best game" or similar. "favorite game" works so much better.

Are PS3 games going to have "greatest hits" versions? It would be nice to see some discounted hits.

PS3 would have to have a severe price drop for me to get one right now ($250 mark would do it)

But now that they are going to be doing netflix streaming on PS3, thats a huge selling point.

PS3 games have had 'greatest hits' for quite some time now.

Thanks. I should have Googled it before asking. :-)

The Blu-Ray player in every PS3 will keep the price up and probably above the competition for a while. It's hard to get just a Blu-Ray player for that, let alone a HD game console. There's a Blu-Ray remote you can buy that makes it much easier to use as a player than using the handset. All the manufacturers lose money on the consoles anyway, hoping to make up for it on game sales. We have PS3, Wii and XBox, but rarely use any of them for gaming, but we use the PS3 for Blu-Ray movies on our 42" bedroom TV.
