From our fearless leader, posthumous:

"This thread belongs to Team Suck, a ragtag group of militia... um... photographers who compatriate more than compete, more interested in winging than winning, in love than lustre.

We don't let a low score get in the way of a dream!

As our seditious philosophy gained ground, our ranks grew, until we became more than just a team. We became a league of teams in wholesome if not entirely serious competition with each other. And that's the way we all became Team Suck.

This thread is for suckers to commiserate and compete. It can also be used for anyone with questions or comments about the Suck lifestyle. If you do wish to join us, we ask that you participate at DPC for a while to see if sucking really is your style, and we ask that you fulfill whatever half-brained initiation we come up with at that moment."

Rule of Thirds applies to *composition*, not subject.

We might decorate our new home with photographic suggestions of road trips for Deb.

Tonight I will post mine.

A new home - is good! I like the idea of photographic suggestions of road trips for Deb - mine shall follow tomorrow, as I am out until then.

Had a day off work yesterday and went to watch the cricket at Headingley - a Roses match (for the uninitiated, a match between Yorkshire and Lancashire). Still another couple of days to go, but it is looking good for Yorkshire. A very pleasant day it was, but sadly no cameras are allowed.

Jeez, go MIA for a week and come back and everyone's left! LOL! Congrats on the retirement Deb!

Nice to have a new home. We are doing a road trip on the bike to Leadville tomorrow so will take pictures so that Deb will have ideas of places to visit when she comes to Colorado. :-)

Hmm, nice new place, the Base Camp tents were getting a little musty. Phew!

Deb has hit a snag in the road trip idea. Apparently even though the entire United States of America is unemployed and destitute according to the everything I read over here, no one is willing to part with their motor homes. And they aren't building any new ones because no one will buy them, except of course people like me, who cannot because no one is making them any more. It seems quite odd...

I am, however, enjoying the not going to work thing. I have guests for the next week and a half, and lots planned to do, then will start working on a few European vacation plans. Oh, and trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Suggestions welcome!

Hmmmm, I have driven past a couple that are on the side of the road with for sale signs ... want me to send you the info (assuming they are still there when I go back)?
Congrats on the new phase, Deb.

1. photography (teaching, taking, modeling)
2. training cats
3. training dogs
4. travel guide
5. camp ground host

okay I started you off with things to do, not sure if any of these will make you lots of money.
08/20/2009 03:08:18 PM · #11
Modeling - definitely out. Training cats is a physical impossibility - they train you! Camp ground host is an awesome suggestion!! Perhaps I can be a camp ground host and teach photography to the campers... or at least have fun shooting the campers.... :-)

And Jeanne, no idea how I'd judge the feasibility of a by the side of the road motor home, you know? Hard to find out if they actually run, or don't leak, etc. I was kinda hoping there would be a glut of them in SoCal so my brother could go forth and find me one but he had one heckuva time trying to find one for himself there.

Rent one first. You may love the RV experience or hate it.

We had one when I was a kid - used it to travel across the country and back every summer to visit relatives. I quite enjoyed the experience. I'd want something smaller than the mammoth beast we had, though!

But seriously, RVonline.com has dozens and dozens listed all over the USA... There's a nice Daybreak in Colorado for sale, for example...

Well definitely wine/chocolate taster...
Photography clinician, perhaps? Well duhhh....you've only ribboned a few times here on probably the toughest competitive photography site in the world...fer example I could use some lensbaby lessons, if Ryan will let me use his...
Cat trainer? Sure, why not? I have Druli and Lily trained - oh excuse me, have to go let them out...;-)
Dog trainer? Easy. Dogs love sucking up to people -
- excuse me again, Druli and Lily now want to come in...I have them sleeping on command, proof that they CAN be trained! *buffing nails on shirt* Uh oh, just heard someone cough up a hairball...good thing I taught em to puke up on the hardwood...

Hope this helps! And come visit soon, I have *two* driveways!!!!! ;-)

And in Philadelphia, skip the tourist lines at the liberty bell and do a "square to square" walk.
