On the heels of the free 4-week photography course taught by John Greengo from the PBS series Art Wolfe's Travels to the Edge, Creativetechs has confirmed John will return in September to teach an expanded 10-week class.

They do not have a separate web page dedicated to it yet, but it has been scheduled on the online calendar, and is slated to continue in the existing 4-week classes' time slot -- Each Wednesday at 1800 GMT (11am PT) -- Starting on Sept 2.

So, share and enjoy!

The 4-week class was a lot of fun, but was very basic from a technical standpoint. I expect the 10-week version will have you break out your thinking cap, and take some notes.

Webinar: Free 10-Week Digital Photography Course!

Schedule:

Week 1, Sep 2 - Introduction & Gear Review
Week 2, Sep 9 - Cameras
Week 3, Sep 16 - Lenses
Week 4, Sep 23 - Exposure
Week 5, Sep 30 - Focus
Week 6, Oct 7 - Aesthetics I
Week 7, Oct 14 - Aesthetics II
Week 8, Oct 21 - The Gadget Bag
Week 9, Oct 28 - Full Exposure
Week 10, Nov 4 - Art Wolfe Interview & Slideshow

[ Schedule updated Sept 7 ]

Was not bad but I just caught the last one today....

Had to laugh at the balls though.... anyone know how we can use a free adobe presenter software when we change $45 for replays of the web session - hardly a non-profit. The initial run thru is free which is nice.... I was not sure if the 10week version is free though... maybe I missed it because I was multi tasking (badly) towards the end.......

I'm not sure where you got the impression anything here is being done by a "non-profit" -- Creativetechs in a consulting company -- and they, like any company, will do what they can to make a profit.

All Creativetechs courses are taught the same way -- the initial live viewing is free to as many people as want to attend -- the subsequent recordings of those sessions are sold as a product, and that's how they make money to afford the instructors, etc.

As altruistic as it might seem to think some organization could generate training like this and make it completely free to the public is nice and all, but hardly realistic.

Nah hardly... Never said it was or that I was expecting free... I was having a dig at a for profit company trying to get someone to get them a free version of the adobe s/ware so they could run >1K people on the webmeeting instead of been limited by goto meeting..... It was a few minutes in.... If ya buying the replay then listen to their pitch yourself :-))

They are for profit... suck it up and buy the software or limit attendance for the free teaser to stay with the cheaper goto meeting..... Anyway - I guess it didn't transform my head to type well....

The session I saw today was pretty decent.... and with some meaty topics I would consider paying depending on topic and cost - which is what they are after as you say.

Ahhhhh, sorry -- I completely misunderstood. Now I gotcha. Yeah, I heard that discussion at the beginning of class, but not knowing what they were talking about (I don't follow presentation software-speak, so when they started talking product names, I pretty-much zoned out), I didn't pay much attention.

Yup, agreed.

I'm actually going to fire them an email asking if they have considered using SecondLife. I've heard of a number of groups using SL for training and classes -- might be fun, if a little overkill... ;)

You'll get the webinar info about 2 hours before class starts (assuming they are continuing to follow the same process as previous classes).

If anyone missed the class last week, Creativetechs has put it up online for free viewing until Sept 9th.

They had so many issues with the webinar 1,000-viewer cap, they have begun to put the classes up online for a week after they "air" the first time so folks can catch them even if they cannot connect to the live session. They might continue this for subsequent classes -- definitely worth watching to see if they continue for future classes.

You can view the videos from the training page.

CreativeTechs Class starts in about 15 minutes.
Week 2 - Digital Cameras
Sign-up link
Webinar link

They will be providing it on-line for the next week, without Q&A at end, probably starting tomorrow. This is last week's link. Not sure about this week's link.

I just signed up after missing the first class. It looks great! I guess it's not too late if folks still want to get in on this.

Yes, definitely don't be afraid to join in any time. It's a great class, and you don't have to attend from the start to follow-along.

Just announced in class - John Greengo's Exposure 24!
