So you're saying I can eat as much chocolate ice cream as my heart desires and gain no weight? :-)

I think it was more like Steven Segal snapping the earth's neck.

Bah! Chuck Norris will end the world at the molecular level -- there will be no more periodic table; there will be no more elements -- Chuck Norris will replace them all with the Element of Surprise.

PFfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Want to see Chuck Norris' surprise as he gets his leg snapped?
Bruce Lee owns.

Love the noises that bruce lee makes.

Why not just read the bible? It tells how the story ends. Some of you believe the bible to be fiction, others believe it to be half and half, and others believe it to be the true and accurate God breathed Word of God.

Much of what is written in it has come to pass. Much of what is happening today in the world was written about first in the bible. Many people who actually pick up their copy and actually read it are not surprised with anything that is happening in the world today.

Our future is all layed out in black and white. What is your future? You have two choices... The answer is in the most unread book in the world and yet for some reason has sold the most copies in history.

So... How will the world end? What will happen when you die?

Nah, the bible speaks of the fates of humans, not life on earth. And if we consider that nature really doesn't need us, and that the planet would be better off without us, I really don't think the rapture and the apocalypse would be the end of life, just the end of us.

Revelation 21:1 "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more"

I think both of them are just mortals :)
The world comes to an end by a huge ball of fire that expands by "eating" up everything.
UNLESS of course we find the Fifth Element.
Then we have bought ourselves another 10,000 years ..:))))

I always thought this cried for a sequel. This would be a guaranteed bestseller Nr. 2 of all times. ;-)

I hope it's not zombies. I don't have a gun.

Speaking of apocalyptic fears, a friend of mine keeps talking about the Webbot (web bot) project and some major shift predicted in 2012. It's hard to find much date on it since a Google search brings up way too many iffy-looking sites. However, here's a brief write-up on the Current TV site.

My friend also said the U.S. military is readying itself to aid FEMA this autumn as a mutation of the swine flu / h1n1 virus is expected. All I can find though are Fox News reports citing "a CNN report" -- but I can't find the original CNN story.

Bah, Webbot predicts a planetary catastrophe every week. Talk about the computer that cried wolf...

Anyway, 2012 is nuthin. Just wait for January 19, 2038. 2038 is the new 2000. ;) :D

Ah but then you have the Year 292,277,026,296 Problem. Followed by the Year 170,141,183,460,469,231,731,687,303,715,884,105,727 Problem. I'm pretty sure my TUT (a.k.a. Transuniversal Teleporter) will be affected by that!

More seriously, if nothing else happens in between, the moon will ultimatively stop the rotation of the earth (energy lost through the tides).

I think that's occurring at a rate of about three-billionths of a second per year -- we have some leeway on this one. :-)

What makes you think there is life on earth?

My dad used to have a newpaper clipping tacked up on his office door which had a headline reading "Intelligent Life Has Visited Earth" says Russian Scientist, to which he'd added the editorial note "Too bad they didn't stay."

I think the school principal made him take it down ...

From my personal vicarious experimentation via Mythbusters, I would put more stock in flour beetles, not cockroaches. :P

When the Vogons destroy the planet to make room for a new hyper-space bypass. It's all foretold in "the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
