| VERY amatuer question here...but how do you get the picture small enough so submit or post on this site? it seems like whenever i try, its HUGE. any help would be appreciated |

| umm...i might have? but i used my older adobe program for all editing stuff because I know how it works. (for how long i spend on the computer each day i know pitifully little of how stuff works) |

Don't remember if Adobe Photo Deluxe has the feature to resize. They stop making APD to concentrate on Adobe Elements. If you have a copy all you would have to do is:
Save for web. Bring the largest size to 640 pixels and move the quality bar until it goes below 150kb. |

| first I suggest you crop or edit the pic you want to submit. then I suggest you resave it as a .jpg file with a little ompression. then resize the cropped image to fit the specs of the site. if the file size still doesn't fit the just resave it with a little more compression. just keep playing with the reasve and resize features until you find the right combination. resize first might even do it but I always suggest you resave it as a .jpg even if its already a jpg file. |

| A fairly simple approach (if you have XP) would be to install the image resizer power toy, however the compression may be more (or less depends on how you consider it) than desireable for maximum detail to be retained. |

Save every intermediate version up until your final version in a lossless format such as TIFF of Photoshop, NOT as a JPEG. Each time you save as a JPEG, you introduce further compression degradation to the image. |

I used to use this all the time. Just do all your editing (which isn't tons, since APD doesn't do all that much), resize your photo so that the longest size is less that 640 pixels. Then, do save as, choose .jpg as your file type. Then, it should give you the option of saving with quality from 1 to 10. Just move that slider around until you get less than 150 kb. Remember, as GeneralE said, don't save it over and over. You should only save in .jpg mode one time, and one time only. If you have to save intermittently, use the PhotoDeluxe file type to save it.
