I've voted them all, and expect to run back through and comment some more.

You have rated 145 of 146 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 57 of 146 images (39%) in this challenge.

You have given an average score of 6.3931.

I gave five 10s, seven 9s, a sh*tload of 8s, and in general, I'm surprised and delighted with some of the interesting and unique interpretations I've seen that never would have occurred to me, yet are such a wonderful take on the concept.

Found a fav or two as well.....8>)

I had a different entry originally, but it was to noisy and I could not seem to fix it in pp - that is until tonight. I sure wish I had gotten it cleaned up before as it would have scored higher now.

I view every challenge's entries before placing any votes. Sometimes, despite what is said in threads like these about how amazing the entries are, I just don't see/get it. This is one of those challenges for me. There are, of course, some really good entries that I would love to acknowledge with a vote in my usual range (I am a generous voter) but I just could not come up with at least a 20% minimum to vote on (I usually vote 100% ).

If all that makes the shot relevant is the title, the mark has been missed. Sorry Sandy, I would love to be a 'nice voter' today, but just can't see it happening.

This one is wide open for me--all the image needs to do is relax me. If it's something that I can stare at and it seems silent, serene, and peaceful, it'll score high. To me, Zen is leaving the world behind--if it can take my mind off of all the things I need to do today (without waking my mind up even more), it has succeeded.

Are you cherry picking the ones you like? If you don't like an entry, then low vote it and leave a comment explaining why it sat so poorly with you.

Dropped a little from yesterday. I think I'll probably be hovering in this area most of the week.

No, not cherry picking at all. Perhaps I was not clear. I usually vote 100%. After viewing the entries I thought to myself "You cannot even come up with 20% you would vote on positively." So I am not going to vote at all. Whether I comment on them or not, I don't like handing out nothing but negative or low votes. Deserved - IMO - or not. Sure, when I vote there are always low votes in the mix. I just don't feel good when the majority are low votes and instead of bringing down a bunch of scores for my opinion, I won't vote on any.

OIC, now I understand. I think this is a topic there is a lot of strong opinion about. I admit my own ignorance of the subject.

You know what CEJ, I can't say that I totally disagree with you about the entries. I've started voting, but I have to admit that I didn't see just tons of them that made me want to hit the 8, 9 or 10 key either. But I just started voting. I'm trying to squeeze in a few votes here and there while I'm working (or supposed to be :)

I'm still very appreciative of the score my photo is getting, it just dropped quite a bit overnight. It was hovering at 7.0+ jumping back and forth from the high 6.9's all day yesterday, then overnight, it dropped to barely 6.8. Still a score that makes me happy, and I actually didn't expect it to be that high. But it would be nice if all the new voters liked it as much as the first day voters :)

If you gave everyone a 10 your votes will probably all be erased at the end of the challenge.

I will have to learn to preview all of my entries on my wife's laptop LCD screen before entry. I use a calibrated CRT when photo processing. I did some last minute adjustments to my zen entry that looked fine on my CRT. After rollover I looked at my entry on the LCD screen and was dismayed to see many "artifacts" (I won't say exactly what to avoid giving away my entry). Many people have commented on the particular artifacts being distracting ( I agree). I still have a good score of 6.4xxx, but I am sure I am getting voted lower by some voters because of the processing. oh well, enter and learn. :)

Oh the irony. The sum and total of my formal photographic education is a class I took last Fall at the Red Feather Lakes, Colorado Shambhala Center on Zen photography, taught by a Zen Buddhist monk, Martin Masko. It was a great class, I learned a lot and the people were awesome. I should easily win this challenge with my knowledge and expertise. But that's not zen, that's ego. My ego excuse is I didn't have the time to do the entry I wanted, so it's not my fault I'm not getting a 7.638 and blowing away the competition. Zen is the present moment, were I cling to a 5.4 (and am happy to be there). There were many lessons in the class, but what I remember the most is what was seemingly unintentional, but made the biggest impression on me. We had several assignments, we took photos and then evaluated a few select ones in class. Not everyone could show their attempt in the class because of time restraints, and he asked us to clear our memory cards for the next assignment so if we were picked to show our shot it would be easy to find on the computer for display. A lot of people had trouble with this, they really liked what they took and refused to erase what they had taken. They held on to the physical, as we all would. Being the professional rule follower I am, I erased mine, letting go of what I held on to, and it was the greatest lesson of all. I still do that now, take it and let it go, which is a huge help when I'm doing shitty on DPC. Strange internet dharma for sure, but dharma all the same. This is the class- //www.shambhalamountain.org/programs/1085 , and my score, nestled in the middle way-
